Tracking Down the Lawman’s Son by Delores Fossen is the third book in the Saddle Ridge Justice series. If you’re new to the series, don’t worry, you can jump into the series here with no issues. Each book in the series is a standalone.

Bree McCullough and Deputy Luca Vanetti have been on and off since high school. Although no longer having a romantic relationship, they work together to raise their two-month-old son, despite the tension between the pair. When someone runs Bree off the road, Luca is determined to keep her and their child safe. As the investigation goes on, and the danger increases, Luca knows he needs to figure it out before it’s too late for all of them.

There are plenty of twists and turns throughout the story, which will keep readers engaged and trying to figure out who is behind everything. The author does an excellent job of keeping readers guessing until the end.

Where the book didn’t work for me was the romance between Bree and Luca. The suspense and mystery definitely overshadowed the romance aspect of the book, and as a result, the romance didn’t feel as developed as it could have been. There seemed to be little chemistry between Bree and Luca, and I found myself more drawn in to all the action that was happening rather than what was happening between them.

If you enjoy a book with plenty of action and mystery, this would be a book for you. If you’re also looking for a good romance thrown in, this book would not be for you, as the romance was overshadowed by all the action, and it suffered for it. I enjoyed the book overall, mainly because the author handled the action and mystery so well; it made up for where the romance lacked.
