Watchers of the Night by Charlene Parris Watchers of the Night by Charlene Parris is the first book of the Night Guardians series. The Chariots of Chrome Motorcycle Club, comprised of both current and former law enforcement, do their best behind the scenes to keep the town safe. But when someone blows up the club house, killing detective Adam Solberg’s father, he’s determined to get to the bottom of it, until he’s kicked off the case by his captain.
Forensic investigator Cynthia Cornwall knows what it’s like to be on the outside, waiting for answers about a crime. She’s experienced her own tragedy, and she’s determined to make sure Adam gets the answers he needs, even if sharing information with him costs her her job.
What ensues is a roller coaster ride, filled with twists and turns as they race to find out who targeted the motorcycle club and why. Before the reveal, I was able to accurately predict who the culprit was; because of this, I would say the book became a little predictable. It only became a question of why at that point. Despite this, I still enjoyed it. The author does a good job of not only blending the romance and the suspense but developing the characters as well. Readers will sympathize with both Adam and Cynthia for what they had to deal with, both in the present and in the past.
Watchers of the Night is a gripping romantic suspense that will keep readers hooked from beginning to end. This was a good start to this new series, and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Haunted by the tragedies in her past, forensic investigator Cynthia Cornwall risks everything to keep Detective Adam Solberg informed about the explosion that led to his father’s death. Open, attentive and undeniably gorgeous, Adam seems too good to be true. But Cynthia will have to trust him if they’re both going to survive this case. And she’ll have to decide if the connection they’ve forged is real enough to last.
