In Where the Wild Things Bite (Half-Moon Hollow #5) by Molly Harper, When Anna Winthrop agreed to research an obscure ancient supernatural book (her specialty) for Jane Jameson-Nightengale, she had no idea that it would put her in mortal danger. But her supposed short trip on an airplane to take the book directly to Jane in Half-Moon Hollow, Kentucky, ends up with Anna being assaulted by the pilot and left to wander in the forest with a seriously handsome and highly flammable vampire named Finn Palmeroy.

‘I was stranded in the middle of the Kentucky backwoods, with no phone, no transportation, and no idea how to get to civilization. …And I was trapped in the bluegrass version of Deliverance. With a vampire. Worst. Case. Scenario.’

Germaphobe and anxiety-ridden mess Anna tries to stay positive and put her knowledge of all things disaster related into good use. But at every turn she and Finn face more dangers, be it woodland creatures or people who are after the book she’s holding on to. And while she is thankful to have someone else to commiserate with on her ‘adventure’, Anna fears Finn may not be who he at first lets on. Not only that, but he’s pretty darn cute and way too charming for his own good. Anna’s been duped by a good looking guy before and only hopes that she’s truly learned her lesson. Or she may be in trouble before they can find civilization.

‘I watched him tug the stained material over his head, revealing a physique that was just as muscled and well wrought as I’d suspected it to be–even if I had underestimated the inherent lickability of his collarbone. And I had officially reached “just can’t even” levels of sexual frustration.’

Who else but Molly Harper could turn a novel about surviving a plane crash in the middle of nowhere Kentucky with a sexy–and thirsty–vampire into a comedic adventure with a hint of sweet romance?

“…I’m a selfish person, Anna. For a long time, I’ve thought that was the smart way to be, look out for yourself, and only yourself, because no one’s going to do it for you. But there are times with you, where you make me want to be more.”

I truly look forward to every new release by Molly Harper and thankfully she never disappoints. I know whenever I pick up one of her books that I’ll giggle until I snort and I’ll walk away with a smile on my face. And that’s just what happened here with Where the Wild Things Bite. Following Anna and Finn on their wilderness trek was pure entertainment and it gave us readers a chance to catch up with our favorite quirky characters from Half-Moon Hollow. What could be better, right?

I was absolutely charmed by Finn and Anna both, right from the beginning. I loved Anna’s knowledge of obscure facts and how she tried to keep her anxiety at bay while at the same time trying not to fall for her handsome fellow survivor. She had some decidedly Jane Jameson-Nightengale-like qualities that I adored, one of which was her loyalty. That quality was what endeared her to just about everyone she met. Well, aside from the people out to hurt her to get their grubby mitts on the book she was taking to Jane.

And Finn himself was no slouch. He was flirtatious, intelligent, slightly devious and became smitten with Anna, surprising himself with his feelings and that he might be willing to change his ways for her. There were admittedly a few times where his sincerity and motives were questioned, but overall I thought Finn was a fun character who added a sinfully delicious layer to this story.

Fans will have a ball with Anna and Finn’s steamy chemistry and their even steamier trip through the wilds of Kentucky. The fun never stopped, especially when Jane, Dick, Jeb and the rest of the Half-Moon Hollow supernatural folks joined the party.

Delivering a rare book to a valued customer is definitely part of mild-mannered archivist Anna Winthrop’s job description. You know what isn’t? Protecting her precious cargo from mid-flight theft by the very pilot who is flying her to Half-Moon Hollow…while trying to appear as unappetizing as possible to the only other passenger, a vampire. Undead bookstore owner Jane Jameson could be waiting a very long time for her book. Possibly forever.

Fortunately, Anna’s dashing fanged companion Finn Palmeroy helps her fend off the attack, but not before their plane crash lands in the forest hundreds of miles from civilization. Great, now she’s stranded with a priceless tome and a rakish vampire whose bedtime is fast approaching. Why does everyone want this book so badly, anyway? Anna just wants to get it to Jane before Finn decides to turn her into dinner-or sweep her off her feet. Okay, the second option is really tempting. But they’re not out of the woods yet…
