In Yours to Keep by Serena Bell, Ana Travares has been keeping a low profile and looking over her shoulder since her visa expired when she was a young child. Unfortunately, due to her mother’s death when she was child her visa was never renewed. If her secret is discovered now she will be sent back to the Dominican Republic. Now she tutors high school students to make a living, but knows that she must not trust anyone for fear they will tell on her or run away from her as the one man she trusted did after learning her situation.

Ethan Hansen is pediatrician, a widower with a teenage son. His son Theo is at that age that rebels against anything and everything, which makes it difficult for Ethan to get through to him. But that changes when Ethan hires Ana to be his son’s Spanish tutor.

Ana is able to break through Theo’s shell and brings life back into their lives. The more Ethan learns about Ana the more he feels protective towards her and the more he wants her. I really like that Serena went into the struggles that illegal immigrants face when they don’t know how to solve their problems, and the challenges and fears they face everyday in their lives.
