Spotlight&Giveaway

Hi Ellie and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, Anywhere With You!

Thanks for having me!!

Please summarize the book for the readers here:

Anywhere With You follows Charley, a recently divorced Type-A woman who’s certain she has life all figured out, so when she learns her impulsive, free-spirited sister is planning to elope in the northern Minnesota woods with her messy on-again-off-again high school sweetheart, she heads off on a madcap road trip with her polar opposite—her nomadic, very Type B childhood best friend—in his van home. But when long suppressed feelings resurface, it becomes a question of whether she’s willing to take some risks and make some mistakes in the pursuit of love all while trying to prevent her sister from doing the very same.

Please share your favorite line(s) or quote from this book:

“Best friends are their own kind of soulmates. They’re the people with which we share our innermost selves.”

Please share a few Fun facts about this book…

– When I started this book, I really wanted to write a story that celebrated friendship. Those epic lifelong friendships that span time and distance. I loved writing Charley’s perspective as a teenager and a college student a drew so much inspiration from those nostalgic teen soaps I loved like The OC, Felicity, and even more recent shows like The Summer I Turned Pretty. If you were a teen in the 2000s, you’ll find so many fun easter eggs.
– This book was originally titled OUT OF THE WOODS before we ultimately found inspiration from a song by Maggie Rogers.

What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?

Even as kids, Ethan and Charley really understand each other. They have compatible senses of humor (which leads to some really fun banter) and can anticipate each other’s needs.

Did any scene have you blushing, crying or laughing while writing it? And Why?

I had a lot fun with the past chapters. They feel so dreamy and steeped in nostalgia and writing them was the same. Another scene I had a lot of fun with was dinner scene in the van when they get stuck in the mud. It’s so tense!

Readers should read this book….

If they love banter, yearning, forced proximity, friendship, girlhood, and epic road trips!

What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have in the works?

I’m currently working on MARRIED WITH BENEFITS, a small town, modern marriage of convenience romantic comedy in which a a down on her luck woman with chronic migraines strikes up a unconventional deal with the handsome new-to-town owner of a decrepit lakeside resort.

Thanks for blogging at HJ!

Book Info:

Tiny van. Enormous feelings.

Charley Beekman is thriving . . . if you overlook that she’s financially strapped, stuck in a dull legal career, and the youngest divorcee at the Ruth’s Chris Steak House. After being left by a man she was sure was too boring to ever leave, she’s figured out that the key to true happiness is protecting yourself from surprises. So when her free-spirited sister announces she’s eloping with an on-again, off-again childhood sweetheart, Charley knows she has to stop the wedding before her sister makes the biggest mistake of her life. Conveniently, Charley’s best friend, Ethan, who’s as gorgeous as he is chronically unreliable, has an extra seat in his camper van.

As Charley and Ethan embark on a wild road trip through the enchanting northern woods of Minnesota, Charley starts to feel something she’s ignored for years—a spark that threatens to turn into a full-blown bonfire. But after crashing and burning at marriage despite her best-laid plans, the last thing Charley needs is a fling with a noncommittal, irresistible, nomadic musician . . . right?

Hilarious, witty, and teeming with heart, Anywhere With You is the perfect escape for anyone who believes that sometimes the best destinations are the ones you never planned.

Meet the Author:

Ellie Palmer is the author of Four Weekends and a Funeral and Anywhere With You, and is a prototypical Midwesterner who routinely apologizes to inanimate objects when she bumps into them. When she’s not writing romantic comedies featuring delightfully messy characters, she’s at home in Minnesota, eating breakfast food, watching too much reality television, and triple texting her husband about their son.

I have a great friend that I see a couple of times a month. We have common interests and understand each other.

I had a friend in high school whose father passed away our Junior year. It was the first time a parent of a friend had died and it impacted me. We became close for the rest of the school year, then they moved. We kept in touch but didn’t see each other for 7 years. When we met again it was like meeting a soulmate. We have been married 53 years.

  4. Laurie Gommermann

I made a really close friend my Freshman year of college. We were nursing students together at a 4 year college. Our last names were in the We-Z group so we bonded in the many classes we shared. Next year will mark our 50th year as friends. We introduced each other to new friends. I learned about big city life and she was introduced to a small city of 12K. We still keep in touch all the time but getting together is difficult as we live in different states. She is still a wonderful friend.
