Spotlight&Giveaway

Hi Piper and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, Crushing on the Cop!

Please summarize the book for the readers here:

Cristian is the second brother in our Blue Collar Brother series and he’s a police officer. Vanessa is his Commander’s only daughter. Vanessa’s friend bids on Cristian on Vanessa’s behalf during a First Responders Charity Bachelor Auction even though Vanessa told her she doesn’t date police officers, what with her dad being one. The two find themselves in a push and pull, Vanessa dealing with her own demons of trust and accepting help while Cristian attempts to gently show her he’s not like she’s typecast him. Add in brothers razzing one another, two meddling best friends and a whole lot of pumpkin spice.

Please share the opening lines of this book:

Middle Child Syndrome.
It’s not really a thing.
At least, not in my family.

Please share a few Fun facts about this book…

  • There’s a 5k where you get donuts after.
  • Text messages between three Italian brothers vying to be their Ma’s favorite.
  • Fun banter between the hero and heroine who are trying to ignore their attraction to one another.

Please tell us a little about the characters in your book. As you wrote your protagonist was there anything about them that surprised you?

Cristian, our hero, is all law abiding police officer. Eats healthy, exercises daily. His idea of fun is participating in Spartan races. Vanessa, our heroine, is trying to get her fashion line in stores. She loves everything Pumpkin Spice and exercises never (until she gets a new workout partner… or trainer, Cristian).
What surprised us writing the book was Cristian. We had thought he’d be so straight and narrow and ridged, but the more we wrote him the more a different side of him emerged. He still was all about order but there was this really fun side of him. The way he was with Vanessa was everything we hoped he would be.

If your book was optioned for a movie, what scene would you use for the audition of the main characters and why?

After their first time together, his brother and his fiance come home.

Raising from the bed, I follow her down the hall. She’s rounding into the family room when I hear a key insert into the door.
I’m gonna kill Luca.
“Cristian?” Vanessa’s eyes are wide and her tone is panicked.
I run, just as the door starts to open a bit, but I slam it shut right before I can see who it is.
“What the fuck?” a male voice says. I don’t know if it’s Mauro or Luca, but it’s one of my brothers.
I secure the latch so he can’t get in.
“Get dressed,” I whisper-yell to Vanessa as I race down the hall to the bedroom to grab my own clothes. I reach down and grab something off the floor, quickly stepping into them.
“Yeah, um… those are mine.” Vanessa stands in the doorway half-dressed and pointing at me.
I look down to see I’m stepping into her pink silk panties.
Great last impression.

Book Info:

Cristian Bianco has two things against him-he’s a police officer and he’s a police officer in the 18th District…meaning my dad is his boss.

Growing up as the Commander’s daughter and having his magnifying glass focused on everything I did was more than I could handle.

Now, I’m out on my own, living by my own rules. Well, mostly. The ‘job’ I created for myself has me in some hot water and my exit strategy isn’t exactly working out how I’d hoped.

Which is why when my best friend bids on Cristian for me at a charity bachelor auction, I’m not having it. A man in blue is only going to be one thing for me-a problem.

Except after his brother starts dating my best friend he becomes harder to ignore. The eight-pack abs. The sense of style only a girl like me can appreciate. The way he puts his family first. It all adds up to make him one irresistible prospect and has me wondering if he knows how to use those handcuffs the right way-by locking my wrists to his headboard.

My husband that’s what evens us out and balances us. 26 years together

  2. Joy Avery

My husband is my opposite in just about every way but we make work somehow.

  3. Karina Angeles

Yes. My hubby and I are complete opposites. We have NO similarities. He’s the fun and goofy one while I’m serious and dedicated. Our parenting skills, work ethics, and ideas for fun are so completely different that it can be a REAL struggle sometimes.

  4. laurieg72

I dated a guy in college who had very different ideas about things. We found common ground in liking to hike and favorite sports teams.

  5. janinecatmom

My husband and I are totally opposite. But there are a lot of similar things from our upbringing that we are able to relate with that has helped our relationship.

  6. Natalija

My partner is a complete opposite. We didn’t look for any similarities and it worked for us.

  7. lraines78

I tend to go for guys that are the opposite and then we try to find some similarities.

  8. kermitsgirl

I’m pretty sure every guy I’ve dated has been completely opposite of me – we’d have things like friends or a class in common. My husband is also the complete opposite of me, although we share a love of video games and baseball.

  9. Juli Hall

Yes, my husband and I are , Other than love reading books we are complete opposites. Been married for 27 years now

  10. Lynne Brigman

  11. Glenda M

Yes and no. In my experience, it works better when it’s easy to find a few things in common early on

  12. rkcjmomma

  13. Kathleen Bylsma

I think my husband and I are opposites in a lot of ways but, we are similar in the love we share for each other. Thank you

  15. Laurajj

I have! But in many ways those things that were opposite did complement each other! So it worked!
