Hi Megan and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, Demons and Diplomacy!

Please summarize the book for the readers here:

It’s historical, but with a twist—in this world, supernatural creatures exist and are known. Queen Victoria is a vampire; Prince Albert is a dhampir. Cora, my human heroine, has been tasked with negotiating between species as a “Species Ombudsman,” working for the British government. One of her assignments is to escort the Devil—the actual devil—around London prior to the Great Exhibition in 1851. He brings along his (literally) hot son, a demon. Together, Cora and the demon take the devil around London as well as thwarting a plot to sow discord between all the species.

I really did not want to spend any more time with this man—this demon—because either I was going to slap him again or kiss him again, and I didn’t think I should do either thing to someone I was supposed to be behaving diplomatically toward.
That horse had long since left the barn, unfortunately. It was probably already halfway to France, at this rate. Bonjour, mon cheval.

Please share a few Fun facts about this book…

Apparently I have some very strong opinions about pen wipers and treacle… I’ve actually had this concept—albeit not as it ended up—for years, inspired by a combination of my love for actor Taekshi Kaneshiro and noir.

What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?

The hero is gorgeous, snarky, and very smart, so she’s lured in straightaway. For him, he appreciates Cora’s quick wit and strength of personality.

Did any scene have you blushing, crying or laughing while writing it? And Why?

I couldn’t quite believe I wrote a scene where the hero pleasures the heroine with his mouth while on a terrace during a party, but here I was.

“But we can do more,” he said, his words a threat and a promise, as he suddenly swooped down to the ground and ducked under the skirts of my gown.
I yelped, then put a hand to my mouth to silence myself.
He grasped the back of my thighs, then pressed his mouth to my skin, moving his lips up until he reached there. I was holding my breath, and I gasped as he blew air onto my quim.
Dear lord—no, wait, dear demon—was he going to…?

If you like historical romances with a few bends in worldbuilding and plenty of dry wit.
 

What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have in the works?

I am working on the second book in the Ministry of Supernatural Affairs series, this one featuring a human woman and a werewolf.
