Today it is my pleasure to Welcome author Kennedy Fox to HJ!
Hi Kennedy and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, Falling for The Cowboy!
Please summarize the book for the readers here:
When bookstagrammer and photographer Presley Williams goes on a workcation, she finds more than a pretty landscape behind her lens. After she runs into hot and adoring cowboy Colton Langston, she knows she has to feature him on her instagram page regardless if they got off to a rough start. The constant push and pull quickly brings them closer together. With emotions soaring, neither can hold back, and eventually cross the line that was drawn in the sand the day they first met. Falling in love was the last thing on Presley’s to-do list, but somehow it moved to the top.
Please share the opening lines of this book:
The flight from Los Angeles to San Antonio is nothing special, but I enjoy stealing glances at the clouds out the window. Stuck between a snoring man and a coughing woman, all I want to do is spray myself with Lysol, but I settle for rushing off the plane once we land. Even though I travel a lot for my job as a photographer, I still get anxious about flying and dealing with everything that comes with it. Once I get the keys to the rental car and place my suitcases and camera gear in the back, relief takes over.
Please share a few Fun facts about this book…
- Presley is a famous Bookstagrammer who posts pictures of books she’s reading and promoting and often travels to get the best images for her feed. She’s also our first redhead character heroine we’ve written!
- This book is a crossover novel, but can be read as a complete standalone! Presley is from the Bedtime Reads series and Colton is from the Bishop Brothers series. It takes place back at the Circle B Ranch where the Bishop series takes place.
- These two don’t exactly get started on right foot when Colton runs into Presley for the first time and dumps coffee down her shirt. Moments later, he walks over the flatlay she was working on and destroys it. Their back and forth banter will make for a fun read!
Please tell us a little about the characters in your book. As you wrote your protagonist was there anything about them that surprised you?
After a devastating breakup and betrayal five years prior, Colton finds a job as a ranch hand at the Circle B Ranch where our readers are familiar with from the Bishop Brothers series. He works hard, plays harder, but the moment he runs into Presley his entire life turns upside down. She introduces him to a culture outside of the ranch lifestyle he never knew existed. He’s cocky, sarcastic, swoony, and overall when he loves, he loves fierce.
Presley is a famous bookstagrammer and photographer who shares her travels and reading with the world on Instagram. She’s heavily involved in the book world and decides to head to Texas for some genuine cowboy shots for her next series of books she’s posting. We weren’t as familiar with her character as we were Colton because she was only a side character in the previous book, but we’re very familiar with the Bishop ranch, so it was an awesome way to blend the two worlds together.
We’re at the point in our co-author careers where we plot and outline every chapter very carefully. We knew exactly what kind of characters we wanted, however, one part that came while writing was Presley’s confidence. She’s a curvy woman who’s used to the California standards of being skinny. We knew we didn’t want her to be insecure because she’s a gorgeous heroine in and out, but when it came to those sexy scenes, she shined!
If your book was optioned for a movie, what scene would you use for the audition of the main characters and why?
Oh, that’s a hard one, but I think I’d say the moment when Colton takes Presley riding for the first time. In this scene, Presley is searching for secluded places to take photos and John, who runs the B&B, tells her she should take horseback riding lessons. The only problem is she doesn’t realize Colton is the instructor.
The determination in her step causes a laugh to erupt from my core. I turn toward the stall where Snickers is and I can hear her following behind me. I love how they go back and forth with one another, but it’s obvious the attraction they have one another is off the charts.
“So,” she lingers. I stop and turn around, glaring at her with a smirk. She swallows hard. “You can guarantee I won’t get hurt?”
I take a few steps toward her. “My main job is to ensure you make it back in one piece.”
Her eyebrow pops up. “Ensuring isn’t the same as guaranteeing.”
The next step I take makes her breath hitch. Her eyes soften, before she breaks our gaze.
“I guarantee it, Red.”
A moment passes between us. The silent draws on. Her tongue darts out and licks her plump bottom lip and all I want to do is pull her into my arms and kiss the fire out of her.
“I’ll take your word for it then,” she adds with a small half grin.
I somehow force myself to turn away, breaking the electricity streaming between us, and go to the stall. Before entering, I pull a lead rope from a hook close by and snap it on Snickers’ halter. He’s a chocolate and caramel colored horse that the kids love, mainly because he loves to gallop.
“He looks huge and scary,” Presley says as I walk him past her and place him next to Ghost, the horse I ride when I guide tours.
“He’s not.” I shoot her a grin, tying him to a hook. I feel her eyes on me, studying me, as I grab the pad and saddle then place them on Snickers. I explain what I’m doing along with the importance of each piece. She stands back, listening intently as I walk her through the basics of a saddle.
“So you’ve never ridden before?” I ask.
“Not a horse,” she quips. Instantly, the thought of her riding me enters my mind, but I try to push it away. I can’t help imagining my fingers digging into her thick hips as she takes me whole.
What do you want people to take away from reading this book?
That it’s possible to find love when you least expect it, even in the Middle of Nowhere, Texas.
What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have planned?
We’re working on a handful of projects at the moment! We’re currently finishing up Forever Mine, a freebie standalone novella we’re giving away to our lovely newsletter subscribers and we’re also elbows deep with writing Baby Mine, the first book of the Roommate Duet Series that releases in April 2019! We’re so excited about this new series and characters. It’s going to be a fast-paced emotional read that packs a punch, but in our typical Kennedy Fox fashion, we always have a HEA! Eeeep!

Excerpt from Falling for The Cowboy:
“That Southern charm won’t work on me. I’ve been warned about your charismatic ways already.”
My brows lift. “Is that so? Enlighten me.” I wave a hand in front of me.
“I’ve read my fair share of romance novels,” she replies.
I scrunch my nose and scoff. “That’s your credible source?”
“Well aside from friends who have visited Texas before, Jackson warned me the guys around here are…what’d he say?” She taps a finger on her lips. “Oh right. Cowboy casanovas.”
I burst out laughing, but she doesn’t crack a smile. “Seriously? Jackson has no room to talk. Trust me.”
“That just confirms it even more then. Southern men are swoon-worthy, charming, and will say whatever it takes to get a woman into bed.”
“That’s presumptuous.”
“I doubt it.” She shrugs as if she doesn’t care one way or the other. “Just was telling you to save it for someone who’ll willingly fall to their knees at your sweet talk.”
Fuck. I’d love to see her fall to her knees in front of me, but I don’t say that aloud. I’m afraid she’d actually junk punch me for that kind of comment. Presley’s a feisty firecracker; living up to the redhead stereotype. The moment I set her off with the coffee, she put me on her shit list, and I don’t typically give a damn when women get angry with me but for some reason, I care that she won’t accept my apologies.

Book Info:
Never trust a man who wears nothing more than a cowboy hat and ripped jeans who asks if you’d like to save a horse and ride a . . . well, you get the picture.
That should’ve been enough for me to walk away.
I’ve been warned on several occasions about southern men—with their sexy accents, charming manners, and the ability to easily get any woman in bed—which is something I’ll be avoiding.
Being a professional photographer has many perks—traveling around the world, calling all the shots, and working with subject matter that isn’t bad to look at—but Colton Langston with his washboard abs and baby blue eyes, could care less about my current project. He’s trouble, I know it, and he’s determined to make me work for every single photo. When I’m forced into riding lessons, I get way more than I ever bargained for, and by the time my trip is over, I’m in too deep.
Being with him was thrilling, but falling for him was unpredictable.
And ignoring him will be impossible.

HEATHER SCULLY
Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter from Laurell K. Hamilton’s awesome series. Cause she’s kickass and awesome, and she knows what she wants and what she doesn’t, she’s not afraid to spell it out, not afraid to be who she is. And most of all…she’s comfortable in her own skin. She’s just, a snarky, sassy, strong and independent role model for any women to aspire to be. Plus, she kicks evil’s ass better than any guy out there. ❤
Mary Preston
