Please share the opening lines of this book:

Medical school might’ve been a more practical option for me over business school because I’m a very sick man. I should be in therapy, or maybe even prison, for all the despicable thoughts consuming me over the past three years.

Please tell us a little about the characters in your book.

Adam is an introverted, loving single father of two adolescent boys. He divorced their mother years ago due to her infidelity. During the day, the forty-three-year-old dad is a CPA at a large firm in Downtown Detroit. At night, he’s all about Dax and Murphy… and that tempting view right outside his bedroom window. When Michigan isn’t covered in snow, he enjoys spending time on the golf course with his good friend and neighbor, Dan. What Dan doesn’t know is that Adam has eyes for his young niece.

Everly is a junior in college living with the aunt and uncle who took her in after her single mother died suddenly. Living in the shadows of both her traumatic past and her cousin-slash-bestie, Everly is more determined than ever to discover who SHE is. In the meantime, she occupies her rare idle moments with fantasies of her attractive next-door neighbor.

Please share a few Fun facts about this book…

His Moonflower takes place in the same universe as my Nighttime Cravings series, in an upper-middle-class neighborhood in Canton, Michigan. This book was actually written out of order and is technically the fourth one in this world sequentially (the “third” doesn’t release until Fall 2021). However, the story still functions as a standalone. The idea for this age-gap romance came about while I was writing book one back in 2018. I’m so glad I had to opportunity to write it for the Single Dads Romance project!

What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?

Everly has been enamored with Adam since high school. Conversely, it wasn’t until she reached eighteen that Adam realized how beautiful she was.

The First Kiss…

It takes place after a traumatic episode. In Adam’s car, Everly proceeds to drop a couple of bombshells on him. With emotions on high, they share their first kiss.

If your book was optioned for a movie, what scene would you use for the audition of the main characters and why?

The scene I’d probably have the potential main characters read for is the first time Everly comes over to Adam’s to babysit the boys. It’s the first time Adam is leaving his children in the care of someone other than their mother, and he goes overboard with the instructions. This excerpt is from Everly’s point of view.

“You know my aunt and uncle live next door, right?” I remind him with a smile. “If anything were to happen, which it won’t, they can be here in thirty seconds.”
“Do they have a landline?”
“No,” I frown.
“I see,” he murmurs with squinty eyes. “Follow me. Let me show you the pantry.”
“I’ve already seen it,” I express with a tinge of exasperation. “I was here baking cookies with Dax, remember?”
“That’s right,” he grunts. “And you know where the paper plates are for the pizza, right?”
“In the walk-in pantry.” We’ve already gone through this.
“Correct. Oh—let me write down the number to the landline so you’ll have it.”
Why would I need the number if I’m here? My lips move to argue the point, but I immediately close them. The goal now is to put the man at ease so he can leave and I can do my job.
He spots the pen on the kitchen island, next to my notebook that I use for school. I got here thirty minutes early, so I had time to get some studying done while Mr. Holt helped the boys with their homework. He takes the pen and grabs my notebook as well. I watch in silence as he turns the notebook over.
“I’ll put it here. You can have it handy when you’re upstairs.” He jots down two phone numbers on the brown cardboard. “And here’s my cell, which you already have. In case your phone dies.”
For some ridiculous reason, I feel giddy, like a schoolgirl whose crush writes in her notebook. I’m having a hard time keeping my cool being in close proximity to him. This is all so sudden and new that my brain hasn’t had time to adjust. Neurons fire off at the wrong times, signaling me to be all dreamy-eyed instead of maintaining a front as a diligent professional. Up to this point, I have prevailed against my natural senses. But as he scribbles “Adam” on top of the two phone numbers, I feel my armor cracking.
“By the way, call me Adam. None of this Mr. Holt business. I’m no senior citizen.”

If your hero had a sexy-times play list, what song(s) would have to be on it?

His Moonflower actually has a playlist (included in the book), and three of the songs are perfect for Adam’s sexy-times soundtrack:

I Touch Myself — Divinyls
God Is a Woman — Ariana Grande
T-Shirt & Panties — Adina Howard

If you could have given your characters one piece of advice before the opening pages of the book, what – would it be and why?

I would tell them both to let go of the past and move forward in their truth. Also, sever ties with dead weight, even if that dead weight is related to you.

What are you currently working on? What are your up-coming releases?*

Right now, I’m working on the next book of the Nighttime Cravings collection titled “An Insatiable Eventide” (currently up for preorder on Amazon). It’s all about Adam’s youngest brother, Devin, and his unconventional relationship with a woman who is considered to be an enemy of the family. The book releases on September 3rd. After that, I have a secret project coming out in time for the holidays!

Excerpt from His Moonflower:

Why does she leave the blinds wide open like that at night?
Doesn’t she know I can see right inside her bedroom?
I spot the white wireless earbuds tucked into Everly’s ears, revealing the reason her upper body sways silently as she folds laundry on the bed. She’s dressed in nothing but a borderline translucent white camisole and teeny, pale blue panties. The shadows of dark circles up top and the plump skin teasing me from between her crossed legs below makes me wild inside. Suddenly, she takes a break from folding, rises, and starts dancing on the floor.
Sweet mother of…
It’s a seductive expression of a sound that only she hears. I wish I knew what she was dancing to. For now, my imagination plays “I Touch Myself” by Divinyls in order to occupy the quiet space on my side of the window and drown out my breathing. Even though the song playing inside my head gives the perfect tempo for her sexy little shimmy, something dawns on me.
She wasn’t even born when that song came out.
Shit! Close the fucking window, Holt!
My insides are shouting at me like the viewing audience warning a woman not to trudge through the woods in a horror film. But like her, I don’t listen. I don’t know what it will take for me to stop obsessing over this young girl next door—rather, young woman. But still… She’s young.
I’m old enough to be her father.
Will Dan have to kick my ass?
Having my bedroom window facing hers surpasses cruel and unusual punishment. I could choose to sleep in a different bedroom. I could also stop peeking through the blinds at night, stealing glimpses of her magnificent body. Instead, I’m like an alcoholic taking refuge in a wine cellar. She is Aphrodite, and I’m a eunuch being seduced by her nightly. Touching Everly is simply out of the question.
How old is she now? Twenty-one?
No matter… She’s way too young for me.
I’ve seen young guys from the neighborhood flocking there over the years, mainly to flirt with her and her cousin, Renchel. For me, Everly was the one who always stood out. She’s beautiful, with distinct features that became more refined as she got older. For the life of me, I don’t understand why boys aren’t breaking down her door.

Book Info:

ADAM
At forty-three, I’ve experienced my fair share of love and even betrayal.

That very same heartbreak gave me the gift of two adolescent boys, and I owe it to them to be a good example.

But the proverbial girl next door has captured my attention and has me craving things I shouldn’t want. Not with Everly. It’s almost shameful how much of my headspace is consumed by someone half my age.

EVERLY
I may be young, but I’m no stranger to failed relationships and heartbreak. In fact, the last time I fell in love, it almost killed me.

But everything about Adam, the sexy and much older man next door, draws me in. I don’t care that he’s nearly twice my age or that he has two young sons. I would do just about anything to make him mine.

Can I convince him that age is just a number, or will he shut me out because he’s also my uncle’s good friend?

Meet the Author:

You can take the girl out of Detroit, but you’ll never take Detroit out of this girl.
For TK Cherry, it’s pop—not soda, and Tim Hortons over everything else.
Born and raised in The Motor City, TK now enjoys little or no winters in the Carolinas. By day, she’s a spreadsheet whiz and frequent flyer. By night, she lives for keeping her loyal readers on the edge of their seats with steamy tales of happily ever after.

43 Responses to “Spotlight & Giveaway: His Moonflower by TK Cherry”

  1. Mary Preston

Boss and employee because it’s more realistic and less worrisome.

  2. Evelyn S.

Teacher/student, boss/employee and coach/athlete. I like the power dynamics between an authority figure and a subordinate and how they work out to have a balanced relationship. Thanks for the chance!!

  3. Marcy Meyer

My favorite age gap tropes would be teacher/student and best friend’s daughter. I like the forbidden aspect to it. It makes it intriguing as to how things got started and how they get away with it.

  4. Jennifer Shiflett

I love all of them because you never know what to expect, and it keeps it interesting.

  5. Tammy V.

The girl next door. I’m not a big “corporate” type person. I liked the slower paced life of a country town.

  6. Diana Tidlund

Best friends daughter out of that list but best friends younger sister is the best !

  7. Nina Lewis

I like best friend’s daughter, taboo & reverse age gap! The sexual tension & angst! Love it! 🙂

  8. Tina R

I like Boss/Employee and Girl Next Door because of the chemistry that builds up.

  9. Pammie R.

I’ve been reading a lot of boss/employee and best friend’s daughter stuff that I like from your list. Not from your list, I like enemy to lover and anything with kids like single parent or surprise baby.

  10. Amy R

    Teacher/Student
    Boss/Employee
    Best Friend’s Daughter
Parent/ kids ex boyfriend/girlfriend like The Birthday List by Penelope Douglas

  11. Bonnie

My favorite romance trope is enemies to lovers, because I enjoy the conflict between the characters.

  12. Nicole (Nicky) Ortiz

    I don’t have a favorite I love them all.
I really don’t go by tropes I just read whatever sounds good
    Thanks for the chance!

  13. Terrill R.

Reverse age gap is my favorite. I’m not a huge fan of OM/YW age gaps, unless it’s not severe. Female has to be older than 21, for the most part.
