Today it is my pleasure to Welcome author Lauren Connolly to HJ!

Hi Lauren and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, LOVE IN PLANE SIGHT!
Please summarize the book for the readers here:
Love in Plane Sight is a heartwarming rom com about Beth, a diner waitress who wants to train to be a pilot but can’t afford the training. Then her half-brother’s grumpy best friend George, a man she always assumed hated her, offers to train her for free. As the two spend more time in a small cockpit together, Beth realizes she may be developing an unwanted crush on her stoic flight instructor…
Please share your favorite line(s) or quote from this book:
“Sometimes the things we love are scary.”
“You’re my home base. The one I always want to be flying back to.”
Please share a few Fun facts about this book…
- The working title of the book was Love at First Flight, but another book was releasing with the same title, so we changed it. I like this better because the acronym is LIPS.
- There’s a grumpy dog in the book that is inspired by my real dog Giles.
- My father is a pilot, and he helped me with most of the technical airplane info.
- Beth, the main character, loves a crispy hashbrown and so do I. Readers might want to be ready for some delicious diner food talk in this book!
What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?
Beth is first attracted to George because of his confident handling of an emergency situation. I think many of us would agree that competence can be a huge turn on.
George is first attracted to Beth long before she realizes. He sees her in her most vulnerable moment, witnesses how deeply she loves the people in her life, and finds that authenticity and devotion extremely attractive.
Did any scene have you blushing, crying or laughing while writing it? And Why?
I laughed a lot during the writing of this book, especially during the scenes with Beth’s brother Shawn and her best friend Darla who have a side flirtation going on, only Darla’s flirting is mainly insults.
Excerpt:
“Hi, Darla!” he chirps. “How’s your day going?”
Her nose wrinkles as if she smells something bad. “It was going mediocre. Then you showed up.”
Shawn leans on his elbows. “And me showing up means . . . ?”
Sometimes I wonder if my brother is a masochist.
“It means that I have to look at you. Stop smiling. You’re always doing that. It’s fucking annoying.”
“Sorry. I’ll just . . .” Shawn presses his lips together hard, and I think he’s trying to force the happy expression off his face, but he physically can’t manage it.
This is like watching a goofy golden retriever mooning over a black cat that’s all claws.
So cute. So sad.
Readers should read this book….
If they enjoy a combination of humor, heat, and heart in their stories!

Book Info:
With her brother’s grumpy best friend—and her longtime nemesis—as Beth’s flight instructor, her pilot lessons could be a plane disaster or their first-class ticket to forever.
Mayday. Mayday. Engine failure.
When flying with George Bunsen, the last thing Beth Lundberg wants is to be horny in the cockpit. But when her first ride-along dives toward disaster, the perpetually stoic George is forced to execute a skillful emergency landing, and Beth is horrified to find herself with an adrenaline-fueled crush on the pilot. She’s even more shocked when her brother’s best friend offers her discounted flight lessons—possibly out of guilt for almost killing them.
And despite George’s annoying habit of departing any room the moment Beth enters, she really wants to accept. No matter that it’s an egregiously expensive hobby, or that her waitressing wages go right toward her mother’s medical bills, or that she’s already in debt up to her eyebrows. Flying is Beth’s dream, and she could use her private license to earn real money.
The more time they spend navigating the sky, the more the turbulence between George and Beth dissipates. But Beth has seen the burning wreckage that comes from mixing business with pleasure—plus, she’s been keeping a secret that, once revealed, will send all her relationships into a tailspin. Can she really take a risk on romance when her pilot career isn’t even off the ground?
