Spotlight&Giveaway

Hi Stacey and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, Perfectly Inappropriate!

Please summarize the book for the readers here:

A woman scorned and a politician with a wild side connect online—and explore their hottest fantasies in the flesh.

Please share the opening lines of this book:

Timing was everything. Sometimes perfect timing caused accidents. Sometimes perfect timing was a blessing, bringing two people together to find their happily ever after from a chance encounter. And sometimes perfect timing was cruel, changing lives in a blink of an eye.

Please tell us a little about the characters in your book. As you wrote your protagonist was there anything about them that surprised you?

Olivia Watts is an aspiring street photographer – which of course, is COOL. But it was Senator Noah Grant who took me by surprise. Because I don’t plot my stories, I never exactly know a character until the story develops. Noah starts off as a total hot alpha for sure, but as the store continues he turns into this warm, sweet, guy looking for love. He really made my heart all gooey!

If your book was optioned for a movie, what scene would you use for the audition of the main characters and why?

The scene below would be my pick. Why? Because this scene is pure Olivia in her rambling, oh-so-attracted-to-Noah state, and Noah is just his yummy alpha self!

“Come away with me tonight.”
She blinked. “What?”
His laugh came easy and felt good. He liked surprising her too, which he seemed to do often. “My family has a home in Bedford. Come there with me for the night.”
Her expression pinched. “More time together? That’s the second time you’ve changed the rules, you know.”
“Yes, I’m aware.” Fully aware. Which was exactly why he needed more time with her. To explore why. “Is my changing the rules a problem for you?”
Her eyes searched his for a loaded moment. “That depends on why you’re changing the rules.”
He didn’t mind her pushback one bit. In fact, he respected her calling him out for not staying firm on his resolve. “Meaning what exactly?”
She drew in a deep breath, holding his gaze intently. “Listen, I know we’ve got this incredible chemistry. I mean, on the radar, it’s Titanic-sized chemistry. But I can’t . . . I’m not ready for . . .”
“A relationship,” he finished for her.
“Yes, exactly,” she said with a nod and a long sigh. “It would be totally crazy to even think about dating anyone so soon after what happened with Cameron.” She glanced over her shoulder, obviously glancing at Cameron before setting her haunted gaze back on Noah. “I have nothing to hide here, and the truth is, seeing Cameron again rattled me. I’m not over all that happened with him, and I’m not sure exactly when I’ll be. Which is why I signed up for SiR. I want the fantasy, not the reality. As long as you can accept that, then I’ll go away with you.”
He had thoughts. Sure, he had a lot of them. He simply didn’t feel like talking. Instead, driven by pure instinct now and not refusing what he wanted, he scooped her up and kissed her. Hard. Passionately. Kissed her enough that when he broke off the kiss, she was breathless, and so was he. “Yes, you’re right,” he told her.
Her eyes slowly opened, pulling him in. Her pouty pink lips were puffy, inviting him to kiss her again. “Right about what?” she breathed.
“We do have Titanic-sized chemistry.” He felt Cameron’s gaze burning him from where he stood. When Noah looked back in Cameron’s direction, he let his dark grin spread across his face, then he strode away, out of the restaurant.
Without a doubt, Olivia would follow.
He knew that for certain because she had him hopelessly chasing after her too.

What do you want people to take away from reading this book?

That dreams are worth chasing.

What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have planned?

Next up is SWEET-LOVING COWBOY on October 9th, a best friend’s little sister, forbidden love, H-O-T cowboy. It’s the second book in my KINKY SPURS series but can be read as a standalone.

My current project is NAUGHTY STRANGER, which is the first book in my new BAD REPUTATION series that’s releasing in June 2019. Think the same sexy romances you know from me…with a side of murder.

Excerpt from Perfectly Inappropriate:

“Now Olivia . . .” He grabbed the side of her chair and pulled her closer. Her startled gasp hardened his cock to steel. “For this to work . . .”—he was always careful in these initial meetings not to implicate himself, saying just enough to get the information he needed—“the most important thing we need between us is chemistry.” He stared into her eyes, watching them dilate with her arousal. “It’s an incredible thing, don’t you think?” Her lips parted, and her tongue snuck out, both causing his dick to twitch. “How powerful it is that looking at someone alone can bring so much intensity.” He looked into her eyes again. “Do you agree?”
She nodded.
“May I touch you?” He needed to test her. Without chemistry, he wouldn’t go any further.
“Yes.”
Keeping his eyes on hers, he ran his finger up her arm, enjoying her shiver. He lowered his voice, drawn into her. “Chemistry is an incredible thing considering how little I know about you, and yet by touch alone, I know all I need to.”
When he dragged his finger across her bare shoulder, her eyes fluttered, a soft moan spilling from her mouth. “What do you know?” she whispered.
He captured her chin, waiting for her to open her eyes. When he snagged those dark beauties into his control, he slid his fingers across her jawline and smiled at her breathy moan. “That we’ll be just fine together.”
Usually with submissives he stopped now. Before her. He already knew when they played, they would have the connection he required as a dominant. And yet . . . and yet, he couldn’t help himself from leaning in and lowering his face to her neck, inhaling deeply.
She smelled fresh and sweet. She didn’t drown herself in perfume, allowing him to enjoy her natural fragrance. And he liked it.
Testing her further, he brushed his lips against her neck and her pulse hammered beneath his mouth. She stayed still, her ragged breaths sounding rough by his ear. “Tell me what you’re feeling right now,” he ordered, sliding his mouth upward.
She moaned.
He nipped her ear. “I require you to answer me when I ask a question. Tell me you understand?”
“Yes, I understand,” she rasped.
He nipped her earlobe again, smiling at her hard shudder. “The correct response is: Yes, sir.”
“Yes, sir.” She gasped.
He hesitated then planted his mouth by her ear. “I’m waiting for your answer.” He would not repeat himself.
She paused now. He had no doubt if he looked at her face, he would find her eyes closed, her mouth parted, desperate for him to make his move. Instead, he waited for her response.
It came a second later.
“I want you to kiss me.”
“Is that so?” He smiled against her neck then leaned away and captured her chin. His cock throbbed when he found her expression exactly as he had pictured it. But when she opened her eyes, laying him with the emotion in their depths, she blindsided him.
His lips met hers that instant. There was no thought anymore. There was only what she needed of him and his inability to refuse her. He lightly kissed her, opening and closing his mouth with hers, testing the way she wanted his affection. He had a moment of clarity when he realized he should back away, but then she moaned into his mouth, and he slid his hand to her nape, angling her head and deepening the kiss. Her tongue swirled with his, and she melted beneath his mouth, her eager moan spilling out across him. She made him ache, and when he felt himself yearn to reach for her arms to pull her across the table and onto his lap, he forced himself to break away.
He pressed his forehead against hers and cupped her cheek until the twitch of his muscles indicating his need to lay her out on this table and make her come against his mouth faded. Only then did he lean away and stare into eyes that captivated him. The hunger for this woman was a rare thing. “One week, Olivia. That’s what we’ve got.” It’s the only arrangement he would make, not for himself but for his submissives. The time was short enough to ensure no emotional attachments. The last thing he needed was a scorned submissive stalking him. “Is that agreeable to you?”
She leaned into his touch, breathless. Her lips were parted, all but begging him to return his mouth to hers and kiss the hell out of her until they were both screaming their pleasure. “Yes, sir.”
Lost in those eyes, he knew two things for certain. Either someone was setting him up with the perfect temptation. Or this woman was goddamn made for him.
