Today it is my pleasure to Welcome author Kelly Elliott to HJ!
Hi Kelly and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, She’s the One!
Hey Y’all!
Please summarize the book a la Twitter style for the readers here:
Second chance romance with some tears mixed in and an HEA!
Please share the opening lines of this book:
My heart dropped when I came around the corner and saw Abby’s car parked in the driveway. She must not have felt like going to work at her folks’ flower farm again. Her parents had been understanding, of course, as day after day went by and Abby still wasn’t there. Her emotions had been all over the place, and I had to admit I was holding on by a thin thread. I had done my best to be there for her, but she’d been slowly pushing me away.
Please share a few Fun facts about this book…
It was inspired by an old friend of mine who was married, divorced then remarried the same man.
I visited a few Christmas tree farms in New Hampshire for research
What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?
They are high school sweethearts!
Using just 5 words, how would you describe Hero and Heroine’s love affair?
Romantic, passionate, hurtful, forgiving, beautiful
The First Kiss…
Abby reached up and laced her fingers through my hair, causing my heart to somersault in my chest. She rose onto her toes, her mouth so close that all I had to do was reach down and take it. Take what was mine.
Without revealing too much, what is your favorite scene in the book?
The girls slumber party! Here is a sneak peek –
Willa knocked on the door and walked in, then softly shut it behind her. She spun around and looked at us with desperate eyes. “Brighton brought outfits!”
Laughing, I replied, “I heard.”
“No, you guys don’t understand. She brought outfits that like…strippers would wear. No offense to strippers.”
“What do you mean?” I asked.
Willa glanced at the door and then back at us. “I peeked in her bag. I saw a French maid outfit and a cheerleading uniform. And the only other things I could make out were a tiny plaid skirt and lace stockings, and a football jersey that didn’t look like it would fit a two-year-old girl!”
The door to the bedroom opened and Bree waltzed in, with Candace and Greer bringing up the rear. She dropped a bag onto Arabella’s bed, then clapped her hands and rubbed them together. A look of pure sinister glee came over her face.
If your book was optioned for a movie, what scene would be absolutely crucial to include?
The greenhouse scene on Thanksgiving day.
My heartbeat kicked up the closer I got. You couldn’t see the greenhouse from the house, and that was part of the reason I was able to forget about it. When I finally got close enough to see inside, I froze.
Abby was sitting on the floor of the greenhouse, her back to me.
“Oh, Abby,” I whispered, looking at all the dead plants through the glass. Stepping inside, I softly shut the door.
She didn’t move a muscle, though I was positive she’d heard me come in. It was freezing inside. Ken or Bryce must have turned off the heater. I worked at the lump in my throat and tried like hell to say something, but nothing would come out.
After a minute or two, I finally managed to speak. “Why are you on the floor?”
Readers should read this book …
If they love small town romances, second chance love stories and a story that is filled with hope and dreams.
What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have planned?

Excerpt from She’s the One:
Bishop reached his truck, and I called out his name. “Bishop!”
He had opened the truck door but stopped, turning toward me. I started to jog. Right before I got to him, I slipped, and Bishop’s arm shot out and caught me.
I felt the familiar fire the moment he held me in his arms. When our eyes met, I swore I saw it burning in his. He felt the connection as well.
He let go of me and took a step back, nearly causing me to fall again. I steadied myself and fought to keep my heart from beating right out of my chest. “I’m sorry, and it kills me that you look at me like you hate me.”
Bishop closed his eyes. “I don’t hate you, Abs.”
“Bishop. I was just…I was so lost and confused.”
“And you think I wasn’t?”
I sniffed and wiped my nose with my sleeve. “I know you were…and I’m…I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you.”
He looked away, fighting to keep his own emotions in check. At least that was something—he wasn’t staring at me with an emotionless expression anymore.
“I know it’s too late for us, Bishop, and you’re with someone else now.”
He jerked his head back to me.
“But…but…” I stammered.
“But what, Abby? What?” he yelled.
I brought my hand up to my mouth, trying like hell not to cry. I dropped it and decided to take Aiden’s advice. “I’ve never stopped loving you, and I’ll always love you, whether you choose to forgive me or not. But I don’t want to lose you as a friend, Bishop. These last two years without you have been pure hell. I promise I’ll leave you alone…” I had to stop and take a breath between my damn sobs. “But I still want to talk, and all I can wish for at this point is that we can at least be friends.”
God, I hated how weak and pathetic I sounded.
His eyes filled with tears, and for a moment I swore he was going to close the distance between us.
My heart hammered in my chest as we stood there and stared at each other. Bishop lifted his hand and pushed a loose strand of hair back behind my ear. Something in his eyes changed, and he used the back of his hand to wipe away my tears.

Book Info:
The day I first laid eyes on Abby Boyer, I knew she was the one. The girl I would marry and spend the rest of my life with, and I vowed to do everything I could to make her happy.
There was just one problem, I couldn’t make her happy during one of the darkest moments of our marriage. No matter how hard I tried, my love for her wasn’t enough to make her stay.
I’ve spent the last two years of my life trying to forget how much I still loved her.
Wouldn’t you know it, now that I finally managed to move on, Abby shows back up in Boggy Creek. Out of the blue. Here to stay.
They say time heals all wounds—well, two years wasn’t enough time to cover up the scars of our broken past because I still feel the pain like it was yesterday. My wounds are still healing, and not even my love for Abby can fix us…but will that love allow me to forgive her and finally move on?
