Spotlight&Giveaway

Hi Mimi Jean Pamfiloff and welcome to HJ! We’re so excited to chat with you about your new release, The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant book #4!

Happy Holidays! Great to be back for the last book of the year.

Please summarize the book for the readers here:

In a nut shell, in this standalone VAMPIRE MYSTERY with a giant sprinkle of ROMANCE, our hero Michael Vanderhorst—a 400 year old vampire—is searching for Miriam, the librarian who’s been kidnapped by another vampire.
But the mystery quickly evolves into a much more perplexing problem.
Will he get her back?

Please share your favorite line(s) or quote from this book:

This is tough, since everything’s a spoiler, but I think my readers won’t mind this one. I hope?

I clear my throat. “Ladies, gentlemen, I am sorry to have wasted your time; however, after a brief discussion with the human Miriam Murphy, who I have claimed was stolen by Mr. Nice, I have come to learn that she had feelings for him all along. His…” I swallow down every kernel of pride residing within me and smooth down my blue tie, “incredible alpha-male-like sexiness was irresistible, and though she cared for me, it was not enough to overcome her insatiable, wanton need for him.”

Please share a few Fun facts about this book…

  • I couldn’t help adding a bunch of Easter eggs in the story, including a line to tease my assistant.
  • There’s also some BIG news hinted at in the note from Mr. Nice. I wonder how many people will REALLY catch what it says. Hehehe…
  • The ending was a big struggle because I REALLY wanted something gooier. BUT I had to do what was best for the series/story. So yeah…

What first attracts your Hero to the Heroine and vice versa?

All though this is book four, the series is written so you can pick up any one of the stories and follow along. I think, however, over the course of all the books, what makes Michael Vanderhorst so enjoyable is that he is constantly getting knocked down, his giant ego taking one hit after another.

But he always gets back up and finds another piece of himself, ultimately coming out stronger. Also, as a 400 year old vampire, it’s kind of hilarious to watch him navigate in this modern world. He’s clueless when it comes to somethings, but that’s what makes him endearing.

As for our librarian, Miriam, she’s always full of surprises, but it’s her strength that really makes her character. She’s nothing like she was in book 1!

Did any scene have you blushing, crying or laughing while writing it? And Why?

Dang it! Yes. For sure. I cried while writing one scene, but sharing it would be a huge spoiler, so I’ll say this: When you get to the scene where Michael prays for help, that’s the spot. I ended up editing a lot of the emotion out because I didn’t want the tone of the book to get too dark, but the first draft had me in tears.

Readers should read this book….

  • A. Because they love being surprised and hate predictable stories.
  • B. Because they enjoy a good laugh.
  • C. Because they love alpha males who aren’t afraid to show their vulnerable side.
  • D. Because they want an adventure!

What are you currently working on? What other releases do you have in the works?

I’m so excited for 2020!! Squee!!
I’m working on WISH right now, coming out March 10th. It’s about a woman who finds a bottle at a garage sale and then…all her wishes come true. But there’s something fishy going on with the whole thing, including the very hot man who starts following her around. Is this a fantasy novel? Or a contemporary romance? You’ll have to read it to find out!

WINE HARD, BABY (OHellNo #6) is coming on May 26th. This is the story about a cowboy bartender from Texas who goes after the conservative accountant who works for a winery. Expect lots of jabs in this enemies to lovers story. So much fun!

Excerpt from The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant book #4 (Stand Alone):

“Good evening, ma’am, but I’m wondering if you could tell me who—”
“Are you all right? Should I call 911?” The plate wobbles in her hand.
“I am fine, thank you. Why do you ask?”
“You-you’re blue.”
Is my state of torment so obvious? “It has been a long journey here; however, I assure you, I am merely tired, not sad. Thank you for the concern.”
“No. I mean your face is actually blue. Like a dead person. Is that an icicle hanging from your chin?”
Huh? “One moment.” I turn and head into the men’s room. I flip on the light and glance in the mirror. A corpselike version of myself is staring back. Wonderful. I look like a blue popsicle. I seem to have frozen, likely because I have not fed, and with the wind chill on the bike, it has been twenty below. I never thought I would say this, but I miss Arizona.
I run the hot water in the sink, drink some and splash my face until it is a non-zombie shade of pale white. I truly must feed soon.
I pat myself dry with a paper towel and exit the bathroom. The waitress gives me a nervous glance, clearly wondering what sort of creature I am. I am Mike Frost, Jack’s older blood-drinking brother.
I approach slowly. “Might you tell me whose large truck that is outside? One of the tires looks punctured, and I wanted to let them know.”
She jerks her head to a young man with a scraggly beard and a red turtleneck, sitting in the corner booth. He’s watching something on his phone and sipping coffee.
“Thank you.” I walk over and slide in across from him, unzipping my leather jacket to allow some of the ice cubes inside to melt.
“Who are you?” The man jerks his head back.
“They call me Michael…” I am about to give my real last name but realize there is a fifty-fifty chance I may have to steal his truck. “My name is Michael Phelps.”
He raises one brow. “Like the swimmer?”
Why the devil did I choose that name? How ridiculous. “Why, yes. But I assure you, I am much faster.” Vampire strength and all that. “Anyway, I find myself dealing with a family emergency and must drive through the night. I was wondering if we could trade vehicles, my mint-condition 1961 Norton motorcycle for your truck.”
The guy leans back and folds his arms over his chest. “You’re asking me if I want to trade a motorcycle for my Sweet Cherry that has custom wheels, shocks, and a V8 that I rebuilt with my own two hands?”
“I assure you the bike is worth at least twenty thousand at any auction. It’s a rare collector’s edition.”
“You know this is Minnesota and it’s snowing outside, right?”

Book Info:

From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes a snarky Mystery with a side dish of Romance and two sprinkles of chaos, THE LIBRARIAN’S VAMPIRE ASSISTANT, Book Four.

(Yep! These books are STANDALONES. But the more you read, the merrier!)

SHE’S MINE. BUT HAS SHE FORGOTTEN?

A crazy vampire has stolen my librarian. And if that’s not bad enough, it is my fault. Because I, too, am an ancient, deadly vampire, and it was my job to protect her. I failed.

Now, just as I have reason to hope I will get her back, the situation turns into the biggest mystery of my existence.

Apparently, this evil vampire has brainwashed her into thinking she belongs with him. I do not know how. I do not know why. But I will get to the bottom of this and win her back.

Because I am the motherf*!$%ing librarian’s vampire assistant, and she belongs to me. Or, at least she used to?

I’d say a demiguise. I really loved him in Fantastic Beasts. Since he could see the future he would know what book you wanted ahead of time.

A banshee. People would definitely return books on time rather than fight with her
