Always the Midwife (Midwives On-Call) by Alison Roberts is the part of the midwives on call series and can be Always-the-Midwife-Midwives-On-Calleasily read as a standalone. Sophia Toulson is a dedicated midwife who loves her job.She always has a baby to hold and it helps her to cope with her infertility. But sometimes a girl just wants to have fun—and hunky motorbike-riding paramedic Aiden Harrison has the perfect proposition…

Always the Midwife by Alison Roberts was a well written romance with interesting medical details which were present in the right amount. Sophia and Aiden are both very different characters but they fit like a puzzle through their circumstances. Sophia’s infertility is quashing her dream to have a family of her own. She was a caring and strong character whose best quality was her dedication towards her patients. Aiden is an amazing hero because the way he takes the responsibility of his disabled brother. I found him very mature and his dedication towards his brother was the best thing about him.

The romance is emotional and there are some sad, vulnerable moments as the characters set their own inner turmoils aside to give their relationship a chance. So don’t expect an easy ride but in the end its sure worth everything when the characters get their happily ever after.
