In Bound To Danger (Deadly Ops #2) by Katie Reus, Maria is the only survivor of a terrorist attack at a party full of influential people including Maria’s mother. Maria wakes up in the hospital with no memory of the party or the attack…only the memory of fear and the loss of her mother. The last person she expects to see when she wakes up is Cade – the man who broke her heart and deserted her years ago.

BTDCade has never forgotten Maria, and he’s never let go of the guilt that drove him away from her. Now, as part of a covert agency, he volunteers to be the one to question Maria, and then to protect her. Memories trapped in her head make her the target of terrorists bent on revenge. The government wants Maria to remember, but some want her to never remember and they will stop at nothing to make sure she doesn’t.

As the attraction and heat between Cade and Maria flares back to life, danger is also getting closer. While Cade protects her, who will protect her heart? Will the terrorists be stopped? If they survive, can Maria risk letting Cade in to her life again?

Bound To Danger is a thrilling adventure full of all kinds of action that make up a romantic suspense. Katie quickly pulled me into the story with great plot flow and strong characters. Maria is born into wealth, but she gives back to society. She is dedicated and brave. It is with mixed emotions that she’s suddenly spending so much time with Cade, and I liked how open she was with him. She felt real to me. Cade carries around a lot of guilt, and it’s weighing him down. As alpha as he is, as hot as he is, he is scared of what Maria will do when she discovers why he stayed away for so long. It was nice to see a vulnerable side to such a strong man, it makes him believable. That these two have a past makes the quick progression of their relationship and feelings credible. The old emails Katie adds into their story is a great addition and gives a good look into their past and their relationship then. I loved reading them and watching that first relationship grow!

I liked that Katie gives us various POV’s throughout Bound To Danger…from the innocents to the terrorists. She paints a vivid picture of these people and brings them to life – good and bad. There are glimpses of characters from the Deadly Ops first book (Targeted) and I am really looking forward to reading more about Levi in a future book (I hope!). These glimpses stream well into the plot and Bound To Danger can definitely be read as a stand alone.

Katie gives us lots of romantic conflict, sexual tension in Bound To Danger and blends it all well into the suspense and mysteries that make up Bound To Danger. I would recommend Bound To Danger (and the first book Targeted) to any romantic suspense reader.
