REVIEW: Tossed Into Love by Aurora Rose Reynolds

In Tossed Into Love by Aurora Rose Reynolds, firefighter Antonio Moretti hates his father’s pizzeria, but he agrees to temporarily run it after his father has a heart attack. Libby Reed, a family friend, volunteers to help so she can spend time with Antonio, who she had a crush on for years. Antonio has a preconceived idea of the type of woman Libby is, but the more time he spends with her, the more he questions that. When Libby’s business plan is revealed, will their budding romance survive?

This is the third book in the Fluke My Life series. I haven’t read the previous books, and it felt like Antonio and Libby had interactions in the previous books. It felt like I was missing something, and while it didn’t take away from my overall enjoyment of the book, I would recommend reading the previous books first.

What did take away from my enjoyment of the story were Antonio and Libby themselves. Antonio comes across as a big jerk, and that’s putting it mildly. His dislike for Libby comes from a partial conversation her heard her having with her sisters and he jumps to conclusions about the type of woman she was. Even when his feelings towards her thaw, he still can’t help comparing Libby to his ex. His attitude towards her runs hot and cold, which only confuses Libby.

For the most part I liked Libby. She’s focused and determined to accomplish her goals. Honestly though, I couldn’t figure out what she saw in Antonio or why she let him treat her the way she did. She kept wondering if he liked her or if he hated her.

With Antonio’s hot and cold attitude and Libby’s constant wondering what his feelings were, it was hard to feel any chemistry between the pair. As a result, I had a hard time buying their relationship.

I’ve read other books by this author that I’ve enjoyed, but this one just didn’t work for me. It was just too hard to get past Antonio’s attitude and his wishy-washy feelings.

Libby Reed is over it. Or that’s what she tells herself. She’s lusted after one of New York’s bravest for years, but firefighter Antonio Moretti has doused her interest for the last time. As much as she wants the arrogant jerk (in a bad, bad way), they can’t even be in the same room without setting each other off…which might be a problem now that she’s volunteered to help out in his family’s restaurant.

Antonio’s been burned before. Now he knows better than to trust a pretty face and follow another pair of long, beautiful legs into heartbreak. But while Libby might rub him the wrong way, he can’t deny the heat between them. And it only burns hotter when she steps up in his time of need. The closer they get, the more he realizes he may have misjudged her. Then again, he doesn’t know the secret Libby’s keeping that could send their relationship up in flames before it’s even begun.

I wasn’t crazy about it, but I’m sure there are others out there who will love it. Antonio was too much of a jerk for my liking.
