A Cosmic Kind of Love by Samantha Young: As an event planner Hallie Goodman is pretty used to getting wacky requests from her clients so she really didn’t think to much of it when Darcy sends her an email document with a video folder attached, the contents however were definitely not what Hallie was expecting or what her client had meant to send. A series of very personal video blog recordings from Darcy’s ex-boyfriends Captain Christopher Ortiz while he was away in outer space on the ISS, which were clearly not meant for anyone other than Darcy to watch and really Hallie knows this but there is just something about Chris that keeps Hallie coming back over and over again to get absorbed into his words even when she knows she shouldn’t!

With her guilt for intruding eating at her Hallie decides to send Chris an apology video back but when it bounces back to her she takes it as a sign to keep sending his old NASA email address her version of the video diary blog…after all clearly no one is getting the emails so what’s the harm…right?

Freshly back on Earth Captain Christopher Ortiz can’t help but feel a bit lost, you see most of what he has been doing has all been kind of an ode to his late brother but now with his last dream of being an astronaut completed Chris can’t help but wonder what next? Which is when his old NASA contact sends him a random video from a cute pink haired lady sharing her most random thoughts with him in a series of videos he is intrigued. With each video Chris can’t help but find himself falling more and more for the pink haired beauty, so when the chance to meet her pops up Chris jumps at the chance…the question is can anything actually happen between Hallie and Chris or have they both just fallen in love with the idea of each other?

This book was a sweet as sugar love story that we all need in our lives. It was so incredibly easy to fall in love with Hallie and Chris as they found their way to each other. Firstly I have to say that I just adored the entire concept of the video letters and that they essential fell for each other through these videos. One of the things that I really enjoyed about this book was that neither character was perfect, they both had a whole host of things going on in their lives and these things didn’t just disappear once they found each other. The element of realness in this book made it stand out for me.

Hallie was a great leading lady, I loved the fact that she wanted to be so completely herself even if that meant having pink hair and rocking it! I really loved her determination and passion of creating the perfect event that not only satisfied her client but blow their mind. Also I just adored the fact that she was so prone to having such odd mishaps, this only made me love her character all the more. As for our hero well he really was a hero this time round, being an airforce pilot and an astronaut Christopher Ortiz was pretty much built for swooning! I really enjoyed getting to see him find himself and really being to live for himself after all these years.

More than anything I loved getting to see these two characters falling in love with each other through their words in their vlogs. I loved how heartfelt and real these glimpses into their hearts were and that it built the foundation of their relationship. However the real magic began when they finally met, for an opposites attract romance these two had the perfect insta attraction going. I loved the easiness that flowed between them and that their banter and playfulness just felt like pulling on an old worn in pair of jeans. I really did love getting to see them work their way to each other and their happily ever after, if anything these two more than deserved it!

One of the major themes in this book was family and gosh did these two have the pick of the toxic litter with their respective family drama! My heart just broke for Hallie, no one should have to be forced to pick sides between parents or have to deal with the petty acting out of a mother that has regrets. As for her father well he was just being insensitive to the way his new family made Hallie feel. If anything I just wanted give these two useless parents a good shaking! Where as Chris just made me sad, he clearly still felt the pain and loss of both his mother and brother, and his father really was no comfort or support at all! Though I will say that I loved the relationship that he had with his aunt and that she was the shoulder to lean on that he so desperately needed.

A Cosmic Kind Of Love is a definite read this book was both sappy cute but also heartbreakingly sad all at the same time. Definitely a nice spin on a sweet star crossed love story.
