A Maverick Reborn by Melissa Senate is more than a romance novel. It is a small-town older romance story that shows love is worth the wait. It also focuses on second chances and new beginnings.

Three years ago, Bobby Stone disappeared and was assumed to be dead. When he discovers that he has a twin named Sullivan Grainger, he decides he must find out more and go back to Bronco, Montana. Bobby didn’t have the easiest life growing up and as a younger adult. Meeting this twin answers questions and doubts Bobby never knew he had or understood. He comes back to town and gets a second chance at the life he once wanted and knew.

As part of this second chance of life that Bobby gets at forty, he gets a job as a cowboy. He meets Tori Hawkins, a barrel racer in a family of rodeo stars and a journalist for Rodeo Weekly. She is also forty.

For Tori and Bobby to be together, or be more than a fling, they must break barriers. One example of this is with trust issues. Accepting love is another example. Talking through issues together and with special people in their lives helps them in ways that they could never imagine.

“Sometimes the right man comes in the strangest form,” Audrey added. “He can seem like Mr. Very Wrong. But when you get right down to it, to yourself at the core, he can be very right. That’s how it was for me. Maybe you’ll find that with your guy too.”

Overall, I liked the way A Maverick Reborn ends. It has some slow moments but is a good read. There is space, with the ending, for another book to continue the story. A Maverick Reborn by Melissa Senate would be best for readers of more mature romances, small-town romances, and western romances.

Rumours of his death have been greatly exaggerated…
Bobby Stone has only been ‘back from the dead’ for a few months, but it seems everyone in Bronco has already made their mind up about him–and they think he’s bad news. The strong, silent cowboy could tell folks what he’s really been through, but what’s the point? Tori Hawkins is about the only person willing to accept him as he is. The beautiful rodeo rider harbours secrets of her own — which might be why she gets him. Maybe she could be the person to finally make Bobby whole… Mills & Boon Western Romance — Small towns, cowboys and contemporary romance, the all-American way!
