Alaskan Blackout by Joanne Rock: Quinton Kingsley has tried contacting his half-brother Clayton multiple times with no success. He just wants to make him deal with their now late father’s will. Clayton had traveled to Alaska to escape from all the family issues and to explore his own path. Quinton finally decides he will have to travel to the wilds of Alaska’s Aleutian Islands to track down Clayton in person.

When Quinton arrives after an arduous journey, he doesn’t find his half brother, but McKenna O’Brien. She’s taking care of Clayton’s bar and home while he is out of touch with civilization. McKenna is a beautiful redhead who’s unwilling to disclose where Clayton is located. Quinton tells her he will keep coming to the bar everyday until she gives in and shares the needed information.

Quint sees how hard McKenna works keeping the bar and other side interests going with both tourists and locals. When a horrible storm is predicted, the tourists and others depart. Quint stays with McKenna to help and make sure she stays safe. They end up staying together during the worst of the storm. They both let down their guard and passions flare. When things are resolved will both of them be able to move on and go back to their regular lives?

I had to admire both main characters. McKenna has had a rough past so she has been unwilling to trust after being taken advantage of. She was brave to settle in the harsh environment of Alaska.Quint is more at home as a cowboy back in Montana. Still there is something about about the raw beauty of the Aleutian Islands. He has had to deal with family issues and the turmoil his father’s will has wrought.

The title of this novel is just perfect since a storm blackout is pivotal to the plot. Author Joanne Rock shows her awesome talent through the various settings of her novels. This novel is #3 in a series. It works quite well on its own. I highly recommend this latest sizzling novel from the Harlequin Desire line.
