All They Ever Wanted by Tracy Solheim: Miles has always been ambitious All-They-Ever-Wantedand he likes to follow the path he’s set for himself to accomplish his goals. He wants to help people and make a difference, which is why he’s running for Congress. He’s determined to win the election even if that means coming to a truce with Lori, who is running his mom’s B & B while she’s recovering.

Lori is trying to keep a low profile. She’s running from something in her past and she knows that she’ll need to leave and pretty soon. Lori has come to love Chances Inlet, the people, and the B & B, but she doesn’t want to hurt anyone if the past catches up to her.

One corner of his mouth twitched. “Are you going to rat me out to my mom again?”
She felt her own smile coming on. “No. I’m pretty sure she already knows you’re an ass. Luckily for you, she loves you anyway.”
“And I love her. Which means the two of us need to work this out.”

Miles knows that Lori is keeping secrets and it drives him crazy. He’s torn between protecting his family and maintaining his image for the campaign and the crazy attraction between them. As the pressure from the campaign starts to wear on him, Lori is there to at least listen to him. Since both are living at the B & B, they can’t avoid each other or their chemistry.

“You say that in the heat of the moment, but it would be reckless and stupid. And you’re neither of those things, Miles.” He snorted and she bit back a laugh. She patted him on the chest. “We’re going in different directions, you and I. Don’t forget that.”

Despite knowing that a relationship is impossible, they embark on an affair knowing that they have limited time together. Miles and Lori have to face difficult choices when Lori’s secret becomes the talk of the town.

All They Ever Wanted is a sweet romance with plenty of heart. Tracy Solheim created an engaging story with a good balance between character development and conflict. Ms. Solheim provided great characters in a small town known for second chances. All They Ever Wanted can be read as a standalone book. Fans of Robin Kaye and Elizabeth Hayley will enjoy All They Ever Wanted.

In the new Second Chances novel by the author of Back to Before, even love might not prove strong enough to save a man’s promising future from a woman’s hidden past…

All he ever fought for…

Aspiring congressman Miles McAlister has dreamed of representing his hometown of Chances Inlet, North Carolina, since he was a boy. So when he’s asked to help run his mother’s bed and breakfast he moves home and rolls out his campaign at the same time. But political stardom isn’t a given, especially when he’s expected to compromise the very ideals he’s trying to uphold. Making matters worse is the inn’s stubborn, and distractingly beautiful cook. He’s loved and lost before, so falling for Lori Buchman is not part of his plan.

All she ever feared…

Lori just wants to do her job and be left alone until she can safely move on. The last thing she needs is to get involved with her boss’s son. Miles proves to be too sexy to ignore, however. Their heated fling elicits feelings deeper than either anticipated. But everything about Lori is a lie. She’s harboring a secret that’ll destroy Miles’s career, and when the truth gets out it’s going to shock Chances Inlet to its core, forcing Miles to make the hardest decision of his life.
