REVIEW: An Heir Claimed by Christmas by Clare Connelly

An Heir Claimed by Christmas by Clare Connelly is a December 2020 Harlequin Presents release which touches on Christmas beautifully with wonderful characters.

Dramatic commencement gets the wheel rolling on this delightful story full of heartfelt moments, the beauty of Singapore and with two people who have been brought together by the death of Annie’s brother in more ways than one. Swept out of the only world she’s known of the daily struggle of being a single mum, poor with resources but rich with love straight into the glamour and beauty of Singapore, Annie is overwhelmed by the generosity of Dimitrios, his palatial home and his desire to get to know his son.

Max was utterly delightful and added an extra layer to the story. Catching glimpses of the world from his eyes was enjoyable and from quite early on he was a loved character. Personally, I sometimes struggle with the time frames when secret children are discovered but I feel this one was handled well. The time gap allowed Annie to grow and mature, it allowed Max to have a voice and it allowed room for a really good backstory. I feel it was handled very well.

A delightful story which I really, really enjoyed, and I genuinely loved the reasons Dimitrios approached the reasons for insisting on marrying. Of all the books I’ve read in this line I feel this one had the most genuine thoughts behind it rather than a need to create drama for the sake of the book. I loved the Cinderella feel and the descriptive emotions and dialogue created between Annie and Dimitrios. I really liked the touch of Dimitrios twin in the story and I’m intrigued as to why he is suddenly coming as described at the end of this book. I hope that’s where book two picks up.

A wonderful read, cinderella-esque story with lovely characters. Thoroughly enjoyed.
