Anger Bang by Avery Flynn: Thea has never been one for the spotlight, where her mother and sister have loved the camera and spot light Thea has been more than happy to look for dinosaur bones and play in the sand. But when her family summons her to attend her sister’s reality show wedding Thea sucks it up as always to keep the peace. Even if that means wearing the monstrosity of tule that is her bride’s maids dress. However when her sister casually mentions that she did not even want Thea to be in the wedding it is one step too far for even Thea to bare and smile, which is how she finds herself in a no strings attached wedding fling with non-other than the grooms brother Kade, all in an attempt to make her sister mad. Kade is all for annoying his brother’s psycho new wife with a little no strings fun but what happens when Kade begins to actually fall for the cute quiet paleontologist?
Anger Bang is a true testament to why I love reading Flynn’s books. This book is cute, fun, sassy and oh so steamy, with loads of family drama, hideous 80’s fashion and some real laugh out loud moments. This really was the kind of book that you just did not want to put down.
Thea was one of the sweetest leading ladies, she was so passive and kind and I just hated seeing everyone walking all over her. She really did not deserve to be treated that way by her sister and I’m so proud of her for finally standing up for herself. I really enjoyed getting to see her finally taking her therapists advice and moving out of the fawning phase when it comes to dealing with her family. Once she found her voice I loved seeing her embracing her new found strength, taking risks, pushing back when it was something she did not want to do and repairing relationships. As for our hero Kade, well he too was affected by family dynamics and politics but not to the extend that Thea had been, nevertheless I liked getting to see him realize that love is worth the risk and that if he wants to experience true happiness then he has to take a chance.
The chemistry between Thea and Kade was just gold. These two had banter for days and I just loved seeing them together. There was an air of relatability to their slightly awkward but hilarious encounters as they tried to navigate their new relationship. More than anything I love that they helped each other; Kade helped Thea become the woman that she knew she could be, while Thea helped Kade deal with all of the emotions that he had been bottling up. Now I have to take a moment to mention the atrocity that was the 80’s themed wedding, gosh this was both comical and painfully ugly, but mostly provided loads of laughs. As much as I did not like Thea’s sister I have to say that there was more there than meets the eye and I eventually enjoyed getting to see their relationship unfold.
Anger Bang is one of the best laugh out loud romcom novels that I have read, this book has it all family drama, loads of tulle, more than a few steamy moments and two main characters that you will instantly fall in love with. This book is a total must read.

Sometimes the only answer is to just bang it out. Like today, for example. I’m in actual hell at my sister’s over-the-top reality TV wedding and up until now, I’ve been able to handle it all. The horrible bridesmaids. My relentless mother. Even the awful eighties fashion to fit the retro theme. But when my sister nonchalantly mentioned that she never even wanted me at the wedding—the producers insisted—ouch doesn’t fully express how much it hurts.
So for the first time I don’t think. I just do. And as a shy paleontologist who plans everything, I probably should have taken a moment. But here we are. I’ve just asked the best man, who my sister absolutely loathes and who can’t stand her right back, if he’s up for a little naked revenge with me. The cameras are filming every horrifying second, and the whispers have begun. (Did I mention that the music happened to stop just as I asked him?) But then his mouth quirks up, and he does the last thing I expect.
