Beauty and Her One-Night Baby by Dani Collins: When you don’t trust anyone life is hard. Sometimes it gets to be just too much and during that time you can be known to make the worst (or best) mistakes.

Scarlett Walker was trying to be the best her, not really for her but for the people she needed to be the best for. The problem though with only sharing certain things about yourself with people is that they don’t get to see the whole picture. They don’t know why you do the things you do. Scarlett was so caught up in what she was supposed to do, she wasn’t sure how to do or how to trust what she wanted to do.

Javiero Rodriguez was determined to never have anything to do with his “father” again. He thought that anything that had touched that man even a little was tainted. Javiero was his own man, he had to be. Perhaps because of his father he was made that way? Perhaps it was stubbornness that was borne out of years of frustration. Whatever the case he didn’t trust nor would he.

Javiero and Scarlett were both big messes who didn’t trust, who didn’t share and who definitely did not talk however after one night and episode everything was about to change. What’s worse was that it was about to change because of an innocent. Can these two adults start acting like it? Or were they destined to always act in fear?

Ms. Collins has given her readers a great part two, though this book can be read as a stand alone the ending makes much more sense if you’ve read part one. She does a really great job at her extra descriptions, but struggles with describing Javiero’s changing/evolving personality. Ms. Collins however does do well touching on some very serious issues with PPD and the pressures that women are under and for that alone deserves massive credit. Over all this is a good book, but there are triggers for some emotional breakdowns.
