Beg You to Trust Me by B Celeste: Having moved to Lindon University New York in response to the desire to move from her family in California and find her own way in the world, Skylar’s first Freshman party experience is brutal.
Having lost her virginity to an unknown bloke, having to deal with an STI and working out whether or not the drunken one-nighter was consensual is a heavy punch to stomach when parties, socialising and readily making friends isn’t accomplished with ease for her. And to add to the list of serious challenges, Skylar’s roommate Beca, who abandoned her at the party, begins spreading heinous rumours around campus doing all she can to be an A grade mean girl and destroy Skylar emotionally.
Doing her best to limp through the weeks and months following, Skylar is equally surprised and suspicious when football jock Danny, aka DJ does all he can to become her friend. Trouble is, Skylar isn’t certain he wasn’t the one!
As a second in a series, this College romance hit some serious nails on the head, and rather than behaving in a linear fashion, runs alongside the first instalment in a very ‘meanwhile’ fashion. In this respect, it only adds meat to the first and creates a depth that typically isn’t achieved within this genre.
Furthermore, Danny and his persistent antics are just downright hilarious, and despite being given more than the cold shoulder on more than one occasion, there’s just something about Skylar that he wants in on. Whilst initially, he’ just plumb curious; curious why this girls has run from him 3 times, he uses his flirty charms to win over her trust and before long, a solid friendship ensues.
Developing tension with ease and navigating sexual assault with appropriate tone and sensitivity, this is a great second novel that only leaves me intrigued about a third. For those who love College romances with a decent set of teeth, this is definitely the series for you.

When Skylar Allen decided to move across the country for college, she thought it’d be the perfect chance to reinvent herself. But then one party changed the course of her entire freshman year. Just when she thinks she’s about to drown in the foggy memories of her night spent partying at the football house, Daniel Bridges walks into her life. Lindon University’s wide receiver. A total flirt. And a total threat. Because he can help her take away the memories she does remember from that night. What Skylar doesn’t anticipate is the friendship she forms with the witty football player as months go on. And how easy it is to fall for him as he teaches her how to trust again…and so much more.
