REVIEW: Bengal’s Quest by Lora Leigh

In Bengal’s Quest (Breeds #30) by Lora Leigh, Knowing that he has far surpassed the intelligence and Bengals-Questcapabilities the Genetic Council hoped for when they created him, Gideon has spent years searching for those who betrayed him and for the one Breed who got away. He began setting plans into motion years ago in the lab, in the hopes that he could get vengeance against, some while protecting others.

“I couldn’t desert you, you were all that made my life worthy. Not my experiment, Cat. You were and are, the reason for my existence. And nothing but you mattered. …You saved me. You have always saved me.”

Now in contact with local Breeds in New Mexico, Graeme, as he is now known, is walking a fine line between keeping the feral Bengal locked up tight inside him and tracing down Cat. She’s also keeping a close eye on things, quite sure that the day is drawing near when she and Gideon will once again meet. Neither one knows what to expect when they are face to face. But out of control passion was certainly not what Cat planned on, nor does she know how to react to the dual sides of Gideon.

‘How did he do this to her? Why had her entire life been consumed by this one Breed and all the conflicting, pain-filled emotions he inspired in her?’

Bengal’s Quest was a rather involved, deeply emotional story with a sophisticated storyline that kept me guessing who was who and what was really going on the entire time.

With such a complicated plot, I would suggest readers check out a few earlier installments before jumping in with book thirty. I read the previous story and this still kept me on my toes! Like I mentioned before, the relationship between Cat and Graeme/Gideon was highly emotional, as well as dark and twisted, and really intense. If you’re not a fan of domineering alpha men, then this might not be the story for you, as Graeme took alpha to the next level. I was fine with it and thought it worked quite well for his character, but some readers may not like it.

But with that being said, I thought author Lora Leigh did a great job creating Gideon/Graeme, weaving the two almost separate parts of his identity into one intriguing character. He was a highly intelligent man with a very torturous past, and those events changed him forever. Especially when it came to Cat. I can’t get into too many details, but suffice it to say that the history between them made their reunion that much more difficult and explosive.

I have to admit that there were times when I wasn’t honestly convinced that Graeme had Cat’s best intentions at heart. He was so wild…almost feral, when the ‘monster’ inside him came out. I didn’t know if I liked his character, but by the end of the book, it became clear that there was a reason for every single thing Graeme did, as well as what Cat went through.

With an intricate plot, multifaceted characters, and tons of intrigue, Bengal’s Quest was a wildly satisfying journey.

New York Times bestselling author Lora Leigh tells a story of two Breeds who are united by animal desires, only to find it’s vengeance that stirs the mating heat…

He was a shadow, ever shifting and insinuating, able to blend in everywhere and anywhere. The elusive ideal conceived and created by the Genetics Council, he went by just as many names as he had identities—the last one being Gideon.

Now calling himself Graeme, he hides in plain sight, terrifyingly close to his goal. A rogue Bengal Breed, he has loyalties to no one but himself. And he has a need for vengeance that surges hot and swift through his veins.

Graeme plans to exact an extreme and ruthless vendetta against those who wronged him—Breed and human alike. All will suffer his wrath: those who created him, those who pretended to love him, and those who betrayed him.

That includes the one at the center of it all: a seductive, enigmatic woman helpless against the man whose desire is just as desperate as his need to destroy.

And he’s on her scent…
