Bridesmaid by Chance by Meghan Quinn: Sloane never planned to be a bridesmaid, especially not at a Regency-themed wedding where corsets are mandatory and everyone is far too serious. But when duty calls, she reluctantly agrees, on one condition: Hudson, her annoyingly put together boss and her brother’s business partner, must marry her. Temporarily, of course. The deal is simple really, she plays the perfect bridesmaid and in return, their “marriage” grants her access to an elite social circle that could change her career forever. For Hudson, life is all about structure and reason, all things that Sloane is definitely not! But she does have a point this marriage could really help both of them, that and she is also the only person that seems to be able to get under his skin… As they navigate the ridiculous demands of the wedding, dodging meddling relatives and Regency-era traditions, their fake kisses start to feel a little too real. And when jealousy, tension and unexpected emotions get in the way, Hudson and Sloane are left with one question; was this ever just an arrangement, or have they been falling for each other all along?

I have been loving this series big time, truly it is like Quinn gets better with each of her books! The Bridesmaids for Hire series has easily become one of my all time favorites to read, not only are they super cute but they are down right hilarious! Bridesmaid By Chance was the perfect blend of sharp wit, sizzling chemistry and heartwarming moments, Quinn takes us on a wild ride through a Regency-themed wedding, where modern-day chaos meets old-fashioned traditions.

As with all of her books, Quinn always gives us a strong and independent leading lady, one of the things that I really like about her books. This time round we get to meet Sloane, a sharp, independent, and career-driven woman who finds herself caught in a situation she never expected; being a bridesmaid in a Regency-themed wedding. I really enjoyed the twist on having a female lead character not being so gaga over romance and love stories, our girl Sloane was more interested int advancing her career and becoming the best version of herself. I really like her witty nature and that she was so ambitious, though if I’m being honest I loved getting to see her get caught of guard by her feelings for Hudson. Getting to see Sloane falling in love, reluctantly at that, at that was just perfection. Now for our hero, Hudson is all serious business. and he likes to keep things structured and professional, so you can definitely say that he did not expect to have Sloane turn his life upside down. We really get to see Hudson take risks while he is with Sloane, she doesn’t give him a chance to overthink things, he kind of has to just go with her crazy flow and that was really good for him. Now I’m not saying our guy Hudson is not a romantic but he definitely isn’t the big gestures kind of guy, he is more the small acts of kindness that melt your heart kind of dude. He is also fiercely protective and I loved the fact that he came to Sloane’s defence without thinking twice.

Now I do love a good slow burn, fake-dating romance and that is most definitely what Quinn delivers in this book. At first, they clash, however as they spend more time together, their playful banter turns into undeniable chemistry and small, intimate moments blur the lines between pretence and reality. Despite their growing attraction, they both resist their feelings; Hudson out of fear of ruining their agreement and Sloane because love was never part of her plan. Though neither of them are quite able to deny their feelings when they are faced with the green eyed monster of jealousy. Also these two have some incredibly steamy moments throughout the book, there is definitely no denying their chemistry and the physical pull between them.

Now I just have to take a moment to talk about the regency themed wedding, this was just brilliant! The amount of detail and effort that Quinn has put into crafting this perfect setting was just amazing. If you are a fan of Bridgerton then you are truly going to love this!

Packed with playful banter, slow-burn tension and hilarious wedding shenanigans, this book is a must read for romcom lovers who enjoy strong-willed heroines, reluctant heroes and love stories that start as anything but romantic. A definite must read book!
