In Bring On The Dusk (The Night Stalkers #6) by M. L. Buchman, Claudia has worked determinedly and hard to get where she is today – a pilot for the elite SOAR team Michael is a high ranking special ops Delta Force team member. Together, they and the rest of the Night Stalkers make an astounding team. Claudia is new to the team, but she’s already proved herself. Michael has seen her in action, and admires who she is and what she does. An attraction is there for both of them, neither of them will let it get in the way of any mission, but they won’t fight it either, slowly becoming closer.
With action and the drama of war surrounding them, the whole team fights war together. When it is time for their leave, Claudia and Michael take it together, and he takes her to what he knows, what he loves. Their tree top expedition was a fun, unique adventure and they are both becoming more serious about a relationship with one another…until they both get called back for the blackest of black operations. Faced again with the reality of war, the toll it can take and how fast it can take away from someone, will their unexpected love survive it? Will they?
Bring On The Dusk is a very smoothly written book that focuses on relationships in the military and in war. It is very intricate with a lot going on at times, and I found it a little bit hard to keep up with the plot when this happened. I have read some but not all of this series, and I would recommend reading the series in order to get the most out of The Night Stalkers series.
I liked Claudia and Michael. They just seemed meant to be together. Alike in so many ways, they are a unique pair and they really get each other. No explanations needed. I liked the maturity of their characters and the faith they had in each other. There was very little angst, and what little there was of it was more related to military life than their relationship. I liked how this was done because they’ve done so much in their lives and are so strong, that I would expect them to be mature about a relationship and was not disappointed. M. L. gives us good background on Claudia and Michael, and it made the transition to who they are today believable.
There are a lot of secondary characters from previous Night Stalker books, and this makes sense since they are all part of the same team. I liked the relationship the team had, it was a team I’d be happy to have at my back!
The military and the ops were very detailed, and it was easy to picture places in my mind…especially the Little Bird that Claudia flew on her first SOAR mission!
Bring On The Dusk starts off fast and just keeps going full speed ahead. I’d recommend Bring On The Dusk to readers who like military themed romance that’s not too heavy in the romance department.
