Capturing the CEO’s Guarded Heart by Rebecca Winters : Anelise Lavigny has worked hard to get her law degree. She started out working in her father’s office. After working there only a few months, her father’s friend Louis Causcelle came to offer her a job with his corporation’s hotel division. Her parents urged her to join the business that was a huge part of the French economy. She was thrilled when she won her first case for the Causcelle empire.

Anelise had been living in her own apartment, but Louis insisted she move into what the family called the palais since it had once been a royal palace. Various Causcelle family members lived there when they were in town. Anelise would now have a very short walk to work.

This new job and living arrangement helped her to continue to get past the grief from losing her beloved fiance’ eighteen months ago in a car crash.

Louis has decided to step back from some of the work of the corporation and wants his Nic to take over the hotel division. Nic isn’t happy and neither is brother Raoul since they have enjoyed working together in other divisions. Nic and Raoul are two of triplet sons. Their other brother, Jean-Louis, left the family ten years ago and the only contact has been yearly Christmas cards.

Nic isn’t really surprised that Anelise has started working for the Causcelles. He knows his father is good friend’s with her father and she must be qualified. Perhaps this will work out well since Louis’s doctors want him to retire.

Things seem to be going well until until a tabloid style article appears in “Paris Now” that mentions Nic and Anelise along with her dead fiance’ and Nic’s former fiancee’. The two are them and other family members are upset. Anelise and Nic decide on a plan where they will pretend to be engaged so they can find out who was the link to the press. Can Nic and Anelise enjoy romantic times together with out romance truly blooming between them.

I would have given this novel a higher grade except for the fact it was really easy to know who the press leak was. Still the building romance was well developed. The scenes around France were lots of fun for an armchair traveler like me. The food sound delicious, too. It has been YEARS since I took high school French, but I understood most of the French works sprinkled throughout the story. As a reader, you have to love a book set in one of the most romantic areas of the world.

I have read many of the novels by author Rebecca Winters. They continue to charm and take me away from the stress of everyday life. Capturing the CEO’s Guarded heart is the first in a series. I look forward to the second tale of the Causcelle family.
