Cinderella Next Door by Nancy Robards Thompson: Ginny Sanders lives a quiet life in Rambling Rose, Texas. She teaches high school and relaxes by painting everyday, mostly on her front porch. She tries not to be nosy when she sees her new next door neighbor. He is Draper Fortune, part of the wealthy Fortune family. She unexpectedly meets him when his current glamorous girlfriend has a true hissy fit and throws the candy Draper has given her into Ginny’s yard.

Draper apologizes and is interested in Ginny’s painting. Ginny knows that they can be good neighbors, but Draper is way out of her league with all the beautiful women he seems to date on a rotating basis. Ginny lives with her brother who warns her Draper is a womanizer and should be avoided. Still there is something appealing about Draper under his super charming exterior.

Ginny has never recovered from a horrible incident that happened when she was in college. She is afraid to get involved too deeply in a relationship. Draper is afraid to get too involved also for different reasons. Can the two help heal each other?

Opposites attracting stories really appeal to me and this lovely novel by author Nancy Robards Thompson truly hit on all the right notes for me. Ginny has left her true passion for art behind and settled for a more traditional life. Draper was reluctant to have to move to a small town in Texas at first, but is moved by Ginny’s paintings and sees how he can help and not just concentrate on his career.

This book is the fourth novel in a series, but works perfectly as a standalone. The author references earlier Fortune family events that makes you want to go back and read them to learn more. Nancy Robards Thompson is a new to me author. Her superb writing style has me wanting to read future tales from her in the future.
