Couldn’t Ask for More by Kianna Alexander is the second book in the Brothers of Theta Delta Theta but it can be read as a standalone. Bryan James’s father is pressuring him to bring in a large account to their textile company. Alexis Devers, sister to one of his frat brothers, is an up and coming designer in need of a someone to produce her clothes. But when Alexis’s business partner tells a little lie implying Alexis is engaged, she’s also in need of a fiancé. The pair team up to help one another, but will the fake relationship turn into something real?
I had a hard time getting into this story. It started slowly and didn’t grab my attention. I found the second half of the book to be a little better, but not by much. The characters really didn’t stand out and draw me in.
Bryan and Alexis were ok, but there romance wasn’t really anything special. There’s nothing about it that made me root for them to find happiness together. By the end of the book, I wasn’t invested enough to care if they actually ended up together or not.
There were a couple of issues I thought were left outstanding. Bryan has an issue with his cousin who comes to work at the textile company. Considering the tension and disklike was built up between them, I thought things would either come to a head or they would come to some sort of understanding. Neither happened.
Also, Bryan’s father has his suspicions that his son’s engagement isn’t real, and uses that to threaten Alexis to benefit the company. Bryan finds out and does, well, nothing. He doesn’t confront his father. He doesn’t stand up for Alexis. Nothing. Then there’s no mention of it or the relationship between Alexis and Bryan’s father again. It would have been nice to have seen how things turned out between them considering their relationship had been tense. It also would have been nice to have seen Bryan confront his father about his actions.
I didn’t understand Alexis’s reaction to Bryan’s past. It seemed over the top, considering she hadn’t really taken the time to get to know him or learn about his past relationships. I’m sure she had past relationships she hadn’t revealed to him at that point, either. Instead of going about it the way she did, she should have just sat down with him and talked to him about it. It felt like that was thrown in to create drama between the pair because, up until that point, there had been very little drama. How quickly it was resolved didn’t feel realistic, either.
Readers of the best friend’s sister trope may enjoy this one. Unfortuantely, this story just didn’t work for me.

Bryan James’s job is on thin ice. His dad has threatened to boot him from his executive position at the family textile company–unless he can score a major contract with a popular design house. Bryan knows his best friend’s younger sister can help, but her terms and conditions are more than he bargained for.
Alexis Devers’s debut fashion line is a hit. But when Alexis’s publicist tells buyers that it landed her a wealthy and handsome fiance, Alexis needs to come up with a fake fiance–fast. Bryan’s offer to strike a deal is perfectly timed. She’s more than willing…as long as he plays the role. Luckily, Alexis would never do something as silly as falling for her brother’s best friend…
