Cowboy, It’s Cold Outside by Maisey Yates: Sheena Patrick has had to raise her siblings after their father was killed. They are gone now and she wants to have a real business of her own. She decides to call in a favor from Denver King. His father is the one who killed hers. Both fathers were involved in criminal activities.

Denver helped Sheena and her family from afar over the years because of the responsibility he felt. Sheena wants to open her own bar with Denvers’ help. She decides the theme will be ax-throwing. The author lost me right there. I can’t think of anything more dangerous than the combination of alcohol and very sharp objects.

I went into COWBOY, IT’S COLD OUTSIDE expecting a full enemies-to-lovers arc but It landed more like just fussing and grumpiness. The cover of this novel truly reflects Christmas, but that isn’t brought up until a good ways in.There is a lot of sizzle that would melt a snowstorm. The premise is a good one with focus on forgiveness, friends and family. My biggest struggle, though, was repetition, there is WAY too much repetition — which pulled me out of the story at times.

This novel is at the end of a long series, and I do think that mattered. I might have connected more deeply with the characters and town if I’d had more context from earlier books. That said, I have enjoyed Maisey Yates cowboy stories in the past and will try her next one— This one just didn’t fully click for me the way I hoped.

When a bad girl meets a badder boy, Four Corners is in for the hottest Christmas it’s ever seen.

Sheena Patrick has done well, all things considered. After her father’s death, she raised her sisters and did all she could to give them the best life possible. But they’re grown and gone now and Sheena is ready to do something for herself. But to accomplish her goals she needs Denver King.

Denver owes Sheena. He spent years watching from afar and making sure she was all right after his father’s illegal activities caused the death of her father. So when she rolls up to the ranch looking to call in the favor he promised, he can’t say no. He’ll help her get her axe-throwing bar up and running by Christmas, and consider his debt square. But as the snow falls, sparks fly between the two black sheep of Pyrite Falls. They might be all wrong for everyone else, but are they just right for each other?
