In Crashing the Congressman’s Wedding by Elley Arden, Alice Cramer has been in love with Harmony Fall’s golden boy Justin Mitchell since she was young and he used to hangout with her brother. But with her being a Cramer, she always knew that her place was nowhere close enough to his, that she would never be good enough in the eyes of the town who has pitied her family her whole life.
Justin Mitchell has always followed the rules, and in attempt to follow his father’s wishes he has gone to be a congressman and is now marrying the mayor’s niece in order to bring jobs into town and to keep his biggest political supporters happy. That does not mean that he is happy marrying her, but it means that he will do his duty. Until Alice stands up and tells him that he cannot marry the mayor’s niece because her tiara was in her brother’s possession and that they are having an affair.
Now Justin has called off the wedding and gone in search of answers, only to find a drunk Alice who cannot give him the truth he seeks until she sobers up. Not only that he has to find a way to keep her safe from the mayor’s family who have vowed revenge on her for ruining the wedding. But maybe in trying to keep her safe and taking her with him he has made the best decision of his life and not the worst as he was led to belief.
Alice cannot believe that Justin has taken her away from her home and without her purse or any way for her to return on her own. She has to depend on him until she can get back, but also find a way to keep the town from finding out that she was with him or ruin herself even more and maybe even destroy his political career.
But love and attraction cannot be denied for long, and no matter how much they both attempt to stay away from each other fate and circumstances will keep bringing them together. Justin and Alice will have to choose between the wants and beliefs of the town or what they know in their hearts is right for them.
