Crossing the Line (Battered Hearts #3) by Kele Moon is an absolutely amazing second chance romance. I was lucky enough to read the first two books in the series and was anxiously awaiting to read the third; the story of Wyatt and Tabitha.

CTLBoth Wyatt Conner and Tabitha McMillen grew up in the same small town of Garnet. They were in the same grade and attended the same schools, but that is where their childhood commonalities ended. Wyatt grew up in a loving and stable home, along with his father, the town sheriff, and his twin sister Jules. Tabitha’s upbringing was anything but ordinary. She lived in a dilapidated house with her drunk mother and violent older brother Brett. Her brother, along with his friend Vaughn, tormented and abused her constantly. Her mom sold their food stamps to buy alcohol which meant Tabitha was hungry most of the time.

Wyatt had always been in love with the red-headed and freckled Tabitha. From the moment they met in grade school, Wyatt knew in his heart that Tabitha was the one and only for him. Wyatt’s looks, sincerity and protectiveness made Tabitha’s heart palpitate and they became secretly exclusive during their high school years. Wyatt was Tabitha’s hero, and his actions ensured that she was safe from Brett and Vaughn’s torment in the short-term.

They truly loved each other madly, so much so that they got married a few years after they graduated high school. Unfortunately, Tabitha left Wyatt and Garnet behind, a few days after they became husband and wife in order to save Wyatt’s future. Wyatt was bitter and they both were beyond heartbroken.

Thirteen years later Tabitha returns to Wyatt and Garnet. She is now a successful author and Wyatt is the town sheriff. Their love and heat for each other remains unchanged. Eventually, Wyatt finds out why she left in the first place and he is out for vengeance. Luckily, he has his best friend Clay, and Nova, his brother-in-law’s brother, to protect him from ruining his life.

Wow, what an adrenaline rush from this intense, hot, and emotional novel. Crossing the Line is a powerful, well-written book with an all-consuming love story that took complete hold of my mind, body and soul from the very first chapter. I was completely blown away by the feelings it evoked. The sex scenes are hot, sensual and full of raw emotion. I felt a connection to all the characters immediately, and was rooting for Wyatt and Tabitha to stay together through the end of time. Ms. Moon is an extremely talented storyteller and I look forward to her next novel. Don’t pass up the chance to read this outstanding book!

Wyatt Conner is a hard man. A sixth generation sheriff in his hometown of Garnet. A former MMA fighter. His life is about following the rules and making sure everyone else in Garnet follows them too.

Before life hurt him, Wyatt was different. Love had once blinded him to his upbringing and made him defiant against anyone who tried to separate him from the girl he loved. He easily broke laws to ensure her safety.

When she left it destroyed him.

Now she’s back.

Tabitha knew coming home was a mistake, but family obligation demanded it. She wasn’t expecting to run smack into the love of her life the same day she returned.

Despite the danger, Tabitha is powerless against the wild rush of desire that explodes between them the moment she finds herself in Wyatt’s arms again. She needs a second chance too, but she can’t risk Wyatt finally discovering the real reason she left.

Even for another taste of true love.

Tabitha knows her haunted past will destroy both of them if Wyatt finds out. What she suffered through was too terrible and it’s the one thing that will have him crossing the line for revenge.
