Cruel Money by K.A. Linde: Natalie has found the perfect career to provide her with income and allowing her to travel and experience new things by staying in vacation homes for the wealthy while she’s struggling to write a book that will actually be published. She enjoys traveling and moving around as it’s what she’s used to as a military brat. She’s smart, creative, feisty, and romantic.

Penn grew up privileged and has struggled to make his own way instead of falling in line. He’s pursued his love of philosophy and is a professor at Cambridge. He’s devastatingly handsome, sexy, charming, and cocky. He may be distant from his family, but he has a tight knit crew of power players and a socialite who know the score and know each other’s flaws and dirty laundry.

Natalie was thrilled to have the opportunity to vacation sit a vacation home in the Hamptons. It’s a great chance to work on her book and enjoy the beach. She never expected to see Penn again after their amazing night turned into her heartbreak years ago. Learning that Penn is a Kensington and also staying at the beach house is the last thing she needed.

“Have we met before?”
I snorted. “Observant.”
“And it was a bad meeting?”
I snapped my narrowed eyes to him.
He held his hands up. “Okay. Very bad meeting.”

Penn is taken aback by just how much Natalie doesn’t seem to like him or be ready to fall for him all over again. Both Penn and Natalie have changed quite a bit over the years, and she’s still a puzzle he wants to solve. In spending time with Penn and his crew, she sees other sides of the man she’s getting to know all over again but there are pieces she’s missing. There’s definitely something still there between them, if they could move past their history and figure out the present.

“All right. I’ll drive you on Friday then. It’s a date.”
“It’s not,” I grumbled with a shake of my head.
“See you for dinner.”
“That’s not a date either,” I warned him.
“Didn’t say it was,” he said with a wink.
