Dear Roomie by Kate Meader: If ever there was a person with the travel bug it would be Kennedy Clark, after the tragic death of both her parents Kennedy has preferred being on the move constantly. However when her only remaining relative grandma Edie needs a bit more assistance, Kennedy finds herself heading to Chicago. Kennedy just never expected to have her life turned upside down in the best way possible by a grouchy hockey player and his rescue pup.

Reid Durand is used to having to have to fight for everything that he has, be it the affection for his father or his spot in the NHL. To attain his goal of being best Durand on the ice Reid has put in place some seriously strict rules and schedules, one of the biggest being absolutely no drama or women. However there is just something about his regular coffee girl that makes Reid want to be more friendly, so you can just imagine his surprise when he finds non other than cute coffee girl jumping into freezing cold water to help him save a stray dog.

“I realize it’s difficult for you, Kennedy. I’m here with my excellent body and my adorable dog, so you’re bound to be susceptible. Any woman would be.”
Hold the phone. Was he implying she was the one dying for release here, and not him? “And I realize it’s difficult for you, Reid. Four months celibate and maybe another five—”
“Six.”
“Six to go. I’m here with my yoga-flexible body and my great rack and my in-your-face cheer, so you’re bound to be a little desperate. Any man would be.”

With his schedule being as hectic as ever and Reid not wanting to give up Bucky, Reid finds himself in need of a dog sitter. Which is exactly how Reid and Kennedy find themselves living together, the question is will Reid be able to resist his insane attraction to Kennedy or will this nomad finally show Reid that there is more to life than just hockey?

“Making this man slip the reins of his tightly-leashed control was very, very tempting.”

Pure perfection! Dear Roomie was an absolute delight to read, there was not a single thing that I did not love about this novel. Every box was checked and then some, sports romances are an all time favorite of mine and this has to be one of the best I have read! What was not to love; a broody grumpy hockey player turned softie and a scared nomad female and the cutest little dog that just wants a forever home. I really loved the way these two characters balanced each other out perfectly and ultimately show the other that life is worth living the way you want.

“Oh, wow. Break my fast. That was a thigh-clenching statement if ever she’d heard one. The thought of being on the receiving end of Reid’s first time in forever …”

Reid was just perfect! I loved that he had this whole tough guy exterior but deep down he was such a softie that just wanted to be loved for himself. I really liked watching his relationship with Bucky grow and that they balanced each other out so cutely! It was also super cute getting to see Reid open up and bond with his team, there is just something so darn adorable about these big hockey players forming such a cute bro group! I will say I absolutely could not stand old man Durand, he was a total jerk, though I did like that Reid and his brother finally found their way to each other.

“She was falling for this grumpy, serious, surprising man. It shouldn’t be possible. This was merely forbidden fruit, a yearning for what he refused to surrender. She refused to become tangled in a man as complicated as Reid Durand.”

Now for our girl Kennedy, I loved that she was all sunshine and chill vibes, but that she also helped bring Reid out of his shell. In general I found that she was a really nice character and even when faced with her biggest feat of settling down and the possibility of losing everything she loves again, she handled it very well and didn’t just run away. I will say that Edie was an absolute hoot! I’m a sucker for the oldies and this gal was just classic, I loved that she clicked so well with Reid and the two of them plotted to keep Kennedy in town.

Dear Roomie is an absolute MUST read! I loved every single second of this sports romance and can not wait to read the rest of the books in this series, one thing I know for sure is there definitely needs to be more Rebels players books!

Reid Durand isn’t here to make friends.

Coming from a legacy of hockey greatness, he has games to win and things to prove. With his focus during his first season as a Chicago Rebel on his drive to succeed, every vice is off the table. No booze, no sugar, and definitely no women.

Kennedy Clark is the master of the side hustle.

She’ll walk your dog, brew your espresso, and pick up your dry-cleaning, all while rocking it in Warrior pose. Standing still is impossible for her, because the moment she starts to slow down, it’ll come rushing back in a torrent. The memories. The pain. The heartbreak.

Their meet-cute is more of a freeze-cute. Besides, they already know each other. He’s the rude, entitled customer at her coffee shop, or what used to be her coffee shop since she just got fired—because of Mr. Extra Shot Americano himself.

Reid didn’t intend to get Kennedy fired.
He didn’t intend to rescue a dog after the poor thing ended up in the lake.
And he definitely didn’t intend to acquire a new roommate.

A curvy, chatty, tempting roommate.
Now this perfect storm of events are about to wreak havoc on his neatly-ordered life.

Reid Durand isn’t here to make friends, and he’s certainly not here to lose his heart to a puppy, a team, or a chaos agent like Kennedy. But then we don’t always get what we want …

If you haven’t read a Kate Meader book you are missing out!! This is yet another fabulous book from the Rookie Rebels series featuring Reid, Kennedy & Bucky (Reid’s rescue dog). It has all the feels, it’s funny, emotional, heartwarming. If you’ve read the other books in the series, you’ll recognize Kennedy as the girl in the coffee shop & dog walker. Reid indirectly gets Kennedy fired from the coffee shop while she’s trying to find a new apartment. He hires her to take care of Bucky when he has hockey games & practice, then ends up letting her move in till she finds a place. She’s a free spirit who makes friends easily wherever she goes while he’s rigid, uptight & doesn’t want to let anyone get close so he can focus solely on his hockey career. You will definitely be rooting for them to get their HEA!! She gets him to loosen up & he makes her want to settle down while they bond even more over Bucky (that they both saved from drowning). They are a wonderful couple that you will just adore & you also have our favorite characters from previous books while introducing some new ones (her Grandma Edie & his brother Bastien). All I can say is you will love this book & series!! *I received an arc from the author for an honest review.*
