In Falling Again for the Single Dad by Juliette Hyland, When ER Dr Eli Collins and ER nurse Amara Patel parted ways ten years ago, it had nothing to do with the intense love they felt for each other. Instead, it was the lack of time Eli made for Amara on his way to the top of his profession. So when they unexpectedly begin working together in Boston General’s ER, she thinks they’ll have the same problems. But Eli has new priorities, including being a father to his orphaned niece. Realizing they have a chance that so many people don’t get, Amara and Eli strive to do things right this time. But will old issues begin to creep up again?

His fingers traced lines of fire along her bare skin. “I’ve dreamed of touching you again for years, honey. Tonight, I’m going to worship every inch of you.”

Falling Again for the Single Dad was a lovely Harlequin Medical that drew me into the story right from the start. Author Juliette Hyland really created a likable hero and heroine who complemented each other in their careers and in their personal lives, but who were both incredibly stubborn. And that’s where most of their problems came from.

“Do you ever think about us? Wonder what-if?” Eli’s words were soft as his eyes raked across her face.
“All the time.” The truth finally slipped out, and she stepped into his arms.

I had a great time getting to know Amara and Eli, watching how their second chance at love took them by surprise. Hyland started us off with the breakup scene between our couple from ten years prior, which helped me understand better what happened before their reunion took place. It was sad how Eli and Amara parted ways, especially since they truly loved each other deeply. Ambition and skewed priorities were mostly to blame.

But I so enjoyed how Amara and Eli had an instant camaraderie again when they worked together at Boston General in the ER. What a terrific team they made. (And I appreciate that it was set in Boston, being a New Englander myself!) But there had been some major changes in their lives that influenced how Eli and Amara forged their new path. He became guardian to his cute-as-a-button niece Lizzy after his brother died, and she had family tragedy, health concerns and a failed relationship to put behind her. It all led to some realistic drama that made me ultimately like Amara and Eli even more on this very enjoyable ride.

If you like reading Harlequin Medicals, this will be a fun one! It was a great mix of medical cases, showing how the couple worked together, and their strong-as-ever love for each other. Sigh… 😉
