Falling Again For the Surgeon by Karin Blaine: Jessie had given up a future with Cameron when they were both supposed to go off to medical school. Her secret made her push him away. Now fifteen years later she is a physiotherapist at a fairly large hospital. She also feels compelled to take care of her mother whose stroke has left her with limited mobility.

One night, Jessie gets tied up in traffic and comes upon the scene of a horrific car accident. She is able to stay with a young boy who is severely injured until the ambulance gets there and she goes on to the hospital. Once there, it’s decided the boy must be whisked into the OR ASAP. Jessie is totally shocked when the surgeon is no other than Cameron. He is even more shocked to see her after such a long time.

They end up helping the young boy, Simon, as he works hard to recover from all that has happened to him. Jessie finds out that Cameron has been married and divorced. He also has a young son, Thomas, who has special needs. Will Jessie and Cameron be able to deal with the past and present so they can move on to the future?

I love second chance romances. The added medical details only made the story richer. Jessie showed great kindness and love in dealing both Simon and Thomas. It is hard to start over, but found families are often the best kind.

I could see why Cameron was hesitant about getting too close to Jessie again. She had push him away and then his wife just left without any true explanation. He felt guilty that he had to be both parents and his work schedule didn’t allow him to be the father he truly wanted to be. I think he ws too hard on himself. His love of his son shone through in everything.

Karin Baine is a new to me author. I feel she did a masterful job on a novel with a little spicy romance and family issues combined.
