Falling for the Single Mom by Mia Ross: This was my second ‘visit” to Oaks Crossing, through this series. What a pleasure to revisit the Kinley family and the Oaks Crossing community, which is so very warm and welcoming. Heather Fitzgerald, a young veterinarian, comes to Oaks Crossing with her young niece, of whom she is now the legal guardian after the girls parents pass away. Heather is seeking a small town in which to help her niece Bailey cope with their new life together.

Oaks Crossing, and the Kinley family especially, quickly prove to be the perfect nurturing surroundings. Heather is fascinated by the animals she cares for at the rescue center on the Kinley’s farm. She feels embraced by the warmth of the Kinley’s large family at their weekly gatherings, given that her brother is now gone and her parents are away. Josh Kinley particularly is enamored of Heather and her niece and is constantly seeking them out, helping Heather, bonding with Bailey and making both feel tremendously valued and welcomed in their new community.

As Heather and Josh grow closer and closer in their friendship, she continues to be awed and warmed by his kindness and easygoing nature. While she is being pursued by larger veterinary clinics, her heart starts to tell her that Oaks Crossing should be her home. This story was one I could not put down and I heartily recommend!

After Josh Kinley comes to her niece’s rescue when the girl’s day care is struck by lightning, Heather Fitzgerald is beholden to the charming country boy. As they work side by side to restore the town’s ruined playground, the kind farmer soon becomes Heather’s hero, too.
