In Falling Grace by Melissa Shirley, Grace moves to a small town in Texas and ends up being the talk of the town. Grace is a lawyer and when a man barges into her office and says his wife needs defending, she jumps at the opportunity. What Grace doesn’t know is that the whole town already believes the wife to be guilty of killing her child and treats her like a pariah…except for twin brothers, Blane and Jamie.
Blane goes after Grace with speed and immediately turns her head, until she finds out this bad boy is the prosecutor. How would a relationship work between a defense attorney and the prosecutor? Grace tries to tell Blane that their relationship couldn’t work but he doesn’t take no for an answer. He’s smooth, but also slick. He’s the type of guy you wouldn’t want to turn your back on. He keeps trying to tell Grace to drop the case and uses his bad boy charms on her.
Lucky for Grace, Blane has a twin brother. Jamie is a good guy, who also happens to be the town sheriff. He’s different from Blane and once Grace spends some alone time with him, she falls for him as well. Two brothers who are completely different from each other…what’s a girl to do?
This review is based on my thoughts only and I encourage you to read this story if it feels like something you would be into. That being said…I did not care for this story. I liked Grace and Jamie a little bit, but didn’t care for Blane at all. Blane sneaky and underhanded. He’d kill his own brother if it suited him…and actually tries too. When Grace finds out Blane is married, she doesn’t immediately kick him to the curb, and that’s not something I could respect. She’s also pretty slow on the uptake for a lawyer who’s never lost a case, but she does eventually come to her senses, even if it’s too late.
“I wanted closure to this whole nasty little redneck love triangle.”
As for Jamie, not a worthwhile hero. Nothing memorable or that stands out. The story does have a little suspense to it. We do find out who is really responsible for the death of the child, but by that point my interest was lost and it never recovered. I do like the cover, though.

Finding the fairytale in Storybook Lake…
Grace Wade left Storybook Lake hoping to escape her crazy family and the demands of her job as a defense attorney. But not twenty-four hours after landing in a small Texas town where she hopes to find new beginnings, Grace instead finds herself in the middle of an investigation that’s turning the town inside out. Once she agrees to be the defense attorney on the case, Grace suddenly finds herself torn between twin brothers Blane Sheperd, the bad boy prosecutor on the case, and Jamie Sheperd, the sweetheart town Sheriff…

Yikes! Thanks for the warning, Jennifer. Never would’ve gotten any of the icky twin “redneck love triangle” information from just the book summary. Definitely something I want to avoid. A lukewarm hero and unreformable bad boy sorta-hero/sorta-villain/definitely-villain doesn’t sound like my cup of tea. And not immediately pushing a love interest away when you find out he/she is married? Ick.

You’re welcome. Yeah, they definitely left some stuff off of the summary which would have been helpful to know what I was “walking” into.
