Flight-from-MayhemIn Flight from Mayhem (Fly by Night #2) by Yasmine Galenorn, Blue dragon, Shimmer, is slowly getting acclimated to life Earthside instead of in her native land called Dragon Reaches. Working at the Fly by Night Magical Investigations Agency as a new investigator has given her not only friends for the first time in her life, but a boyfriend as well. Sexy vampire Alex is everything a woman could want, with his generosity and protective ways, but being that he’s also her boss means that things unfortunately get intense and complicated for them.

‘Alex was my boss, and essentially my parole officer. And now, my lover. Things had gotten convoluted very quickly. Hell, I barely knew how I felt about being Earthside, let alone suddenly in a relationship.’

The cases Shimmer, Alex, Ralph and Bette are working on seem to be ramping up in intensity as well. They need to figure out who is killing supernatural beings, mostly elderly Fae, before panic spreads through the community. And all signs point to the possibility of it being a doppelganger, which would make the culprit incredibly difficult to find. But when a plan is concocted, placing Bette at the most risk, Shimmer, Alex and the rest of the group will have to be on top of their game so they don’t lose their friend to a greedy killer.

‘That was what it came down to. Trust. I had never thought I could say those words to anybody in my life, but I realized that I did trust Alex. And I trusted Bette and Ralph and Chai and Tonya and Stacy. I had gone from having no one to having a circle of friends.’

Shimmer and the rest of the crew from the Fly by Night Magical Investigations Agency was knee-deep in supernatural craziness again in this second book in the series. Flight from Mayhem was chock full of romance, action, and complicated relationships to sort through.

‘I had been in some odd places throughout my life, but trudging through a forest with a vampire, a djinn, a human, and a bunch of werewolves had to be one of the strangest adventures I’d had yet.’

I’m really loving the world that author Yasmine Galenorn has created for her Fly by Night series. There were so many intriguing characters and types of supernatural beings/beasties that this will be bound to keep readers on their toes. From elves to elder Fae, vampires to werewolves, and witches to were-spiders (*full body shudder*), this worldscape had it all. Oh, and dragons! Can’t forget that Shimmer is a blue dragon who comes from the Dragon Reaches, a world in itself filled with all different types of dragons. How cool, right?

So there was a lot going on this time around for our supernatural crew. Shimmer and Alex’s relationship was still evolving and growing stronger as they continued dating. Unfortunately his ex, Glenda, wasn’t too happy about that so it made things much more complicated. I enjoyed the connection Alex and Shimmer had and thought they made a great team, both at work and personally. He’s a pretty great guy/vampire anyway; so protective and genuinely caring of his friends. And I think between Alex and Bette, Shimmer began to feel more confident in herself by letting people in. She had been alone so much of the time in the Dragon Reaches that it was awkward for her to be Earthside and be around a bunch of people. But she made great strides in this installment.

Bette has become one of my favorite characters and it was interesting to learn more about her this time. She was part of a plan to catch an evil being that went wrong very quickly, and what Shimmer and the others did to help her solidified their friendships even more which was great to see. It also seemed that there’s a bit of a possibility of seeing Shimmer’s friend Chai, who I also love, and Tonya the witch to maybe have a bit of a romance between them in the future. We’ll have to see how that plays out. Tonya had her own drama in this book which she was able to resolve with the help of the Fly by Night crew. Luckily, the outcome means we’ll be seeing her more in the next story, as well.

Quick-paced, creative, and filled with heart and lovely friendships, Flight from Mayhem will have fantasy fans enthralled from page one. I can’t wait to see what Yasmine Galenorn has up her sleeve for us in book three!

New York Times bestselling author Yasmine Galenorn presents the second Fly by Night novel, set in the realm of the Otherworld.

I’m Shimmer, a blue dragon shifter. Thanks to a mistake, I was exiled from the Dragon Reaches and sentenced to work for gorgeous, exasperating Alex Radcliffe, a vampire who owns the Fly by Night Magical Investigations Agency. Every time I turn around, somebody’s trying to kill us. But you know what they say: All’s fair in love and bounty hunting…

A serial killer is stalking the elderly Fae of Seattle, draining their bank accounts before brutally murdering them. When Chase Johnson asks for our help, Alex and I discover that the sociopath is also a doppelganger—able to change shape to match his victim’s deepest desires. Our friend and colleague Bette volunteers to act as bait, but the plan goes dangerously awry. Now, unless we find her first, she’s about to face her worst nightmare.
