Flip This Love by Maggie Wells is a quick read full of Southern sass and second chances.

Flip-this-LoveHarley has wanted Laney since he laid eyes on her, but always knew he wasn’t good enough for her. She comes from a wealthy family, full of class and he doesn’t. When Harley finally gets the chance to sleep with Laney, he does, even though he’s leaving the very next day. Laney feels used and doesn’t plan on giving Harley a second chance. While Harley was away, Laney and Harley’s social status flipped. Laney’s mom died and her dad deserted her to deal with all the medical bills, leaving her broke. Harley on the other hand, made a name for himself, one that comes with a big bank account.

In the beginning, I really enjoyed Laney as a character. Her Southern mannerisms are perfect and I loved how she made Harley work for her forgiveness. Laney’s emotions were realistic and I felt for her situation. It can’t be easy losing your mother than losing the lifestyle you grew up with and on top of that, she has to deal with Harley coming back and facing her feelings for him.

Harley has all the money and power now, but he still wants Laney.

“Something about her called to him, and he’d be damned if he knew how to stop falling for her over and over again.”

Even though Laney is not the same girl he left behind, he still goes after her with a persistence that should be admired. It can’t be easy getting rebuffed at every chance. I liked that Harley never gave up on Laney. It’s a true testament to how much she matters to him.

I thought their reversals of fortune was a great aspect to the story and I enjoyed watching the story play out. There’s a lot of character growth in the story, which I enjoyed. Laney shines towards the end of the book and realizes she can overcome what happened to her and make a name for herself with her talents. It was touch and go there for a while because towards the middle of the book, Laney had me wanting to slap her for letting her insecurities get the better of her and not realizing what a great man she had in front of her. Thankfully, it all works out for them in the end.

For those readers that enjoy second chances and southern romances, Flip This Love might be a good fit for you!

Nothing draws a magnate like a steel magnolia…

Harley Cade is back in town—and the former bad boy is downright irresistible now that he’s donned a hard hat and set to work restoring the South’s finest homes to their former grandeur. While wealth may have gained Harley entry into high society, it’s going to take a lot more than a fat bank account to win the lovely Laney Tarrington.

Laney isn’t open to giving the self-made magnate a second chance—no matter how much she needs him. With her family fortune gone, Laney finally has to stand on her own two feet. The last person she’d ever lean on is Harley, the man who left her behind with nothing more than memories of the passion they once shared….

With the attraction still burning hot between them, Harley isn’t above seduction—or secretly buying Laney’s bankrupted family’s estate. After all, he no longer has to prove himself to anyone, least of all the daughter of Mobile, Alabama’s most prestigious family. But will pride keep Harley from gaining the biggest prize of all—a place in Laney’s heart?
