REVIEW: Forbidden by Sierra Kincade

Forbidden by Sierra Kincade: Elaina is used to being the outsider amongst her siblings. She was raised to be a pawn in their father’s shady business dealings and now she’s taken over. She comes across as hard, cold, unfeeling, and power hungry. But now she’s on the run as it seems like her illegal dealings and double crosses have come back to bite her.

Garrett is still dealing with what he saw and experienced as a medic in the Army over his four tours in Afghanistan. He’s very private and rarely talks about how he’s been affected by his service. He is loyal, dedicated, and protective, especially with his sister and Cassie.

Garrett is surprised when yet another person arrives in his quiet hometown asking about Marsella (aka Cassie). He’s concerned when it’s none other than Elaina and she’s in bad shape. Taking care of her is the logical next step, as it means he can try to find out why she’s here and her intentions.

“Why’d you patch me up?” she asked.
He finished his bite. Swallowed.
Took his goddamn time to answer.
“Because you needed help.”
“No,” she said, shaking her head. “Good Samaritans are extinct. Wrong answer. Try again.”

Both are immediately wary of each other. They aren’t sure if the other is trustworthy, which becomes complicated as they are attracted to each other. Learning to rely on Garrett goes against how Elaina has had to live her life, but she’s out of options. Garrett sees past her hard edges and challenges her. Giving into their attraction is inevitable, but Elaina isn’t out of danger.

“This isn’t exactly the kind of dancing I’m used to,” she said.
“Me either.”
“You strip, too?” Her smile turned wicked.
“Only if you ask nicely.”

Forbidden is the conclusion to the drama, intrigue, and suspense around the Talent siblings. Sierra Kincade finally explains the nature and motivations of the youngest sibling and troublemaker. Ms. Kincade provides conflict, tension, and heat in a fitting conclusion to the series.

I would recommend reading this series in order, but Forbidden could be read as a standalone. Fans of Roni Loren, Shayla Black, and Lexi Blake would enjoy Forbidden.

Publication: November 14th 2017 | InterMix | Deep Connection #3

The author of Forsaken and Forbidden returns with a new Deep Connection novel—a tantalizing story about a woman desperate to hide the truth…

Elaina Talent is the black sheep of the family, closer to her criminal father than either of her siblings. It goes without saying that she’ll take over the Talent family’s many lucrative businesses—legal and illegal—now that her father is incarcerated. But when events come to a head with an Irish drug dealer based in Las Vegas, Elaina is forced to flee, wounded and with a dangerous secret to keep safe.

Garett Sharp fell hard and fast for Marsella Talent. The ex-army medic is still licking his wounds over Marsella’s rejection when her sister, Elaina, shows up in need of help in Ambrose, Ohio. Out of loyalty to Marsi, Garett nurses Elaina back to health, but remains suspicious of her intent. However, the more time they spend together, the less he can deny the sparks igniting between them. But exploring the passion they feel may lead to an explosion neither can handle.

Thanks for your review. I have not read anything by this author and it sounds like it will be a good read.

Forbidden was really good and so are the previous two books in this series.
