From Air by Jewel E. Ann: Jamie has always liked a bit of adventure, which is why she chose to become a travel nurse and her latest assignment takes her to the snowy state of Montana, working at a psychiatric hospital and living with three burly wildfire smoke jumpers. The only house rule being no getting involved with each other, this sounds simple enough, right? Well it would be if only Calvin Fitzgerald wasn’t so damn intriguing. While the rest of the guys welcome Jamie in with open arms, Fitz seems a bit more reluctant, only making Jamie all the more intrigued. Between all the banter and sass something begins to spark between Fitz and Jamie, the question is will their connection ignite a beautiful fire or will the blaze be to hot for either of them to handle?
From Air was cute, romantic and a bit heartbreaking, and had the ingredients for a brilliant romance read. I absolutely loved the fact that there was an element of forbidden romance in this book but more than this I loved the found family theme that ran through the entire book. While this was a romance at its core, there was so much more going on in this book and I for one loved the way Jewel weaved this beautiful story together while keeping us invested from cover to cover.
All the characters in this book were incredible, I instantly loved our two leads and the more we got to know them, the more I found myself loving them. Jamie was a great leading lady, I loved that she just pushed her way into everyones hearts. It wasn’t even an option not to love her character to bits. She didn’t do anything by small means and she was not afraid to love hard. There was just something so warm and comforting about her. I really liked the way she handled the hard situations that were thrown her way and the fact that she never backed down from anything. Now for our grumpy hero, well lets just say it now, Fitz was a swoonfest, this guy just gave of the unavailable-want me vibe and I completely understand why Jamie was so drawn to him. While he might have come across as this grumpy and moody smoke jumper he was so incredibly witty. But gosh did my heart just break for him once we got to really understand the reason he is so elusive. Poor guy didn’t even realise how broken he really was until Jamie came crashing into his life ready and willing to put him back together.
I’m a total sucker when it comes to reading a roommates to lovers novel and this book had the best notes of this trope. I just ate up the slow build up between these two characters and the fact that they had to sneak around a bit only made this all the more tantalising. Jamie and Fitz just made the most perfect couple, they bantered and played of each other in the most delicious way possible, creating such a consuming build up in their relationship that it became impossible not to root them on. I loved getting to see them slowly open up and begin to understand each other, while this undeniable sexual chemistry kept sizzling in the background.
The supporting characters in this book were incredible! I loved all the fire fighters, the team was just the perfect comic break when things between Jamie and Fitz got a bit hectic, but more than this I loved the bond the guys shared. The sense of found family and brotherhood was so strong and really beautifully written.
I really enjoyed reading From Air, this was another incredibly written romance from Jewel. If you like a forbidden, enemies to lovers romance with a bit of slow burn build up with loads of heart and some incredible banter then this is definitely the book for you!
