Glow by Beth Kery: Alice is reeling from the many revelations and secrets she’s learned since Glowcoming to Camp Durand. She is left feeling confused and trying to deal with the new parts of her reality in what pieces she can. While Dylan is overwhelming, he’s also the one constant source of support that she can lean on.

Dylan is partly relieved that Alice is starting to unravel the secrets of her past, but he’s also concerned with how she’ll react to the secrets she’s yet to learn. He’s also very concerned about her safety, especially once the truth comes out. He’s determined to protect her from any harm, even when she chafes at the restrictions he wants to impose.

“I’m still mad at you for keeping things from me,” she breathed out against his lips.
“Exactly how am I supposed to know what to tell you and what not to tell you, when you send me so many mixed messages?”

It doesn’t help that their attraction is so strong. They want and need each other in a way that neither have never experienced before and trust is not a concept they are familiar with due to their own childhoods. Dylan can be so patient with her since he’s very sensitive to how her life has changed in such a short period of time.

With each night she spends with Dylan, their connection grows more intense. They find ways to be together while keeping their relationship a secret from the other counselors and Durand managers at the camp. As the end of the camp approaches, Alice’s past and present are on a collision course that neither of them expected.

“Be such a smartass one second, and so sweet the next.”
She smiled. He’d told her that before.
“I don’t want to be predictable.”
His dark eyes glistened from amusement and candlelight. “Heaven forbid.”

Glow is the sexy, suspenseful conclusion that had me turning the pages as I couldn’t wait to see how the story unfolded. Glow picks up right where Glimmer ended, so I would highly recommend reading this duet in order. Beth Kery creates a good balance between character development, Alice and Dylan’s romance, and the suspense around Alice’s history. Ms. Kery provides an engaging cast of secondary characters. Fans of J. Kenner will enjoy Glow.
