GRIM TIDINGS surprised me in the best of ways. I was already looking forward to reading my first B.K. Borison book. But I was absolutely captivated by the very first scene and simply couldn’t get enough of Darcy, Gabriel, Aelia, Nate, Frank, and the rest of the wonderful cast. Filled with fun bickering and sexy moments, there was also a level of emotional depth that was completely unexpected.
“All my minutes. Every last one.”
As a paranormal romance fan, there was no way I wasn’t reading a book about a female Grim Reaper and a male Guardian Angel who were (im)mortal enemies that fall in love. I mean, the potential for their romance was astronomical. And wow didn’t Borison deliver. Gabriel and Darcy went from instant lust to realizing they were sworn adversaries to dancing around a slow burn connection that seemed meant to be. But between all of that is where the emotions were piled up to the heavens. And Darcy and Gabriel truly did go through ALL the feels–and then some.

As you would expect with the female main character being a Reaper, there was a lot of talk about death, loss, and grief. And of course, most of it was heartbreaking. But it was the memories that Darcy and Gabriel shared with each other as well as remembered on their own–this was a dual POV–that cut right down to the bone with how accurately Borison described how they felt.
The loneliness they endured over the decades. The exhaustion of trying to do a job where it seemed everyone was determined to fight them on every level. And finding a love that was so true, so all-encompassing, only to know it wasn’t going to work out. Talk about some heavy feelings.
But Gabriel and Darcy were there for each other when it counted and had each other’s best interests at heart even if it meant their own harm. Thankfully they had an ending that was so swoon worthy that I will caution readers to have their tissues at the ready.
Perfect for your autumn reading list, GRIM TIDINGS was proof that love wins and that it’s possible to change your fate–at least in a paranormal romance novel. If you haven’t jumped on the Ghosted series bandwagon yet, this is the perfect book to start.
