Hang the Moon by Alexandria Bellefleur: Brandon is a strong believer in true love, you know the kind that has
such a strong spark no one can ever deny it. Taking his love for love one step further Brandon has used his passion for happily ever afters to create his own dating app to help other people find their soul mate. So when Brandon learns that his sisters best friend Annie is in town and she has all but given up in believing in love, he takes it upon himself to help her fall in love with love again. Oh and it doesn’t hurt that Brandon had the hugest crush on Annie when they were kids.

When Annie planned her surprise trip to Seattle she envisioned a few week with her bestie Darcy, catching up and pack in as much bestie time as possible before she moves across the pond to London. She most definitely did not expect to be spending the majority of her time with Darcy’s brother Brandon. One thing Annie is sure of is that Brandon has definitely grown up since she last saw him, and boy is he a looker now! But what happens now that Annie is starting to develop more than friendly feelings for Brandon and London is looking less and less appealing?

“Smart car guy was Brendon Lowell, Darcy’s not-so-baby brother, and he and his biceps and dimples and bronze-haired beauty had rendered her mute.”

Hang The Moon was just the cutest novel, that had me enthralled from the very start right to the last sweet chapter. I absolutely loved that the entire novel was set in Seattle, with so many famous love stories being set there only made for an even more perfect backdrop. It was just hilarious that Brandon wanted to woo Annie with all the noteworthy romance movie locations, this was just not doing it for Annie.

“Let’s say I needed to prove to someone that romance isn’t dead.”

Both main characters were brilliant, as were all the secondary characters. All of the characters flowed together so seamlessly, and welcomed Annie into their group as if she was always a member. I absolutely loved the relationship between Darcy and Brandon, these two were just hilarious and I loved that they were both not so low key conspiring to keep Annie in town.

“In my mind, romance is just showing someone that you know them, you’re thinking of them, you care about them, and you want them to know it. There’s nothing wrong with chocolates and flowers and even grand gestures if that’s what someone genuinely likes, if that’s what makes them feel appreciated. Because that’s romance. It depends on what your love language is.”

I loved both Brandon and Annie but it really was Brandon that stole my heart. I loved that he was genuinely such a nice person and wanted everyone to find their own happy ending. Also how can you not love the guy after he compared Annie to a potato chip, talk about ultimate compliment right there! As for our girl Annie, I completely got her reluctance to give love or romance another chance, dating is hard work. It was such a treat watching these two roam around Seattle falling in love with all their misadventure.

This novel was an instant hit for me, I loved every single second of reading this friends to lovers romcom and can not wait to read the next book by this immensely talented author! This is a definite must read!

Publication: May 25th 2021 | Avon | Written in the Stars #2

In a delightful follow-up to Written in the Stars, Alexandria Bellefleur delivers another #ownvoices queer rom-com about a hopeless romantic who vows to show his childhood crush that romance isn’t dead by recreating iconic dates from his favorite films…

Brendon Lowell loves love. It’s why he created a dating app to help people find their one true pairing and why he’s convinced “the one” is out there, even if he hasn’t met her yet. Or… has he? When his sister’s best friend turns up in Seattle unexpectedly, Brendon jumps at the chance to hang out with her. He’s crushed on Annie since they were kids, and the stars have finally aligned, putting them in the same city at the same time.

Annie booked a spur-of-the-moment trip to Seattle to spend time with friends before moving across the globe. She’s not looking for love, especially with her best friend’s brother. Annie remembers Brendon as a sweet, dorky kid. Except, the 6-foot-4 man who shows up at her door is a certified Hot Nerd and Annie… wants him? Oh yes.

Getting involved would be a terrible idea—her stay is temporary and he wants forever—but when Brendon learns Annie has given up on dating, he’s determined to prove that romance is real. Taking cues from his favorite rom-coms, Brendon plans to woo her with elaborate dates straight out of Nora Ephron’s playbook. The clock is ticking on Annie’s time in Seattle, and Brendon’s starting to realize romance isn’t just flowers and chocolate. But maybe real love doesn’t need to be as perfect as the movies… as long as you think your partner hung the moon.
