REVIEW: Hard Love by Meredith Wild

Hard Love by Meredith Wild: Blake and Erica are on their honeymoon and enjoying spending so much time uninterrupted together. After all of the challenges they have faced, they are reveling in unplugging and enjoying time away from Boston and work. They have the time to consider what they want out of their marriage and think about the future.

“If this is what you want, it’s what I want. And I’m ready if you think you are.”
A small smile crept over her lips. “We’ll never be ready. I think we just have to be crazy enough to try.”
I locked my gaze to hers. “Believe me, I’ve been trying.”

Before they know it, the honeymoon is over and they return to yet another crisis. This time Blake’s hacker past is haunting them as he becomes the focus of the scandal surrounding the governor’s election. Blake has his own plan for how to get out of this current mess, but Erica has a very different idea. She challenges him to take another path for their future, but Blake is just as stubborn as she is.

“I’m not going to stand by and watch you ruin your life.”
“I’m not ruining my life,” he muttered.
“No, you’re ruining our life. Remember every decision we make affects the other. Or does that only apply to me when I don’t do what you want?”

When events spin more out of control, Erica takes matters into her own hands. She’s never been good at following orders and she’s motivated by her love for Blake to set things back on the right path. She’s determined and tenacious when everything seems stacked against them.

Hard Love is the surprising and emotional conclusion to Blake and Erica’s compelling love story. Meredith Wild saves the best for last as we finally are able to better understand Blake by telling this story from Blake and Erica’s POV. Ms. Wild provides some interesting surprises and a great epilogue to tie their story, along with that of the other characters, together.
