Her Fake Boyfriend by Heatherly Bell: Michelle LaCroix left her job in a big law firm under bad circumstances. She has moved to Charming, Texas and joined a small law firm. She loves her new job and the town. Her boss is very old-fashioned. He thinks Michelle will stay for the long haul if she has a real connection such as a boyfriend. Michelle pretends she has a boyfriend, but has to keep making excuses why “he” can’t attend get togethers with her boss and his wife.

When Michelle runs into a bar/restaurant to pick up some take-out food, who should be there but her boss and his wife. She feels she is “busted” until she grabs Finn Sheridan who is at the bar and presents him as her boyfriend.

Michelle talks Finn into being her fake boyfriend to keep her boss happy. She really is aiming to make partner. She promises Finn she will pay his bar tab for a year if he reluctantly agrees. They decide they will have to appear in town together and learn more about each other.

Finn has had great success and won a gold medal in the Olympics. Unfortunately, he no longer possesses that medal. His ex-wife claimed that along with a great deal of other things during their acrimonious divorce. He has dated since his divorce, but seems to break it off with each woman in two weeks. Can he stay with Michelle long enough to help get ahead in her career? I felt great empathy for Finn with his problems. He still seemed to be a caring man instead of being too bitter.

Michelle had walked away from a heartbreaking situation, but is determined to not let it deter her from her goals. It is always uplifting to see a strong woman in a story.

It was fun to go back to Charming, Texas. It’s the perfect small town setting with people who are friendly and they care about you. The bookshop from a previous novel is mentioned, which gave me the warm fuzzies since I love bookshops. I am sure most of you avid readers do, too, This book stands well on its own. If you haven’t read the other books from Charming, Texas, you need to do that for more charming experiences.
