In Her Wyoming Hero by Rebecca Winters, Ross Livingston knows what being part of the high-class social set with roots that go so far back can be like. So with his own background in mind, he is a bit guarded about his opinions about the new family they will be hosting next. Kit Wentworth and her son Andy, who happen to be of the Wentworth family from the east coast.
For Kit, this is not just a vacation, but also a first step to having the life she truly wants. She has lived with her husband’s parents since the beginning of her marriage. They have dictated and decided about everything in their lives. She could not even make a decision about her own son without them first approving of it.
So when the invitation to go to the dude ranch in the Tetons for a week came she was at first afraid to accept. But after she spoke to her late husband’s commander she could not help be excited about spending a week with Andy away from her in-laws. But for Kit things are not easy, for her in-laws will not accept her making her own decisions without them approving of them first, and definitely not accept her going away for a week to a place they will not be able to control and keep constant contact with them. So they will phone twice a day, and demand that she returns immediately each and every time.
At first Ross believes that Kit may be just another society lady, but as he gets to know her and Andy, he cannot help but fall for them. He can see in Andy the little boy he used to be, and in her he sees a different woman than what he expected. She is not only sexy and fun, but also caring and sweet with her son. But he can see the shadows that haunt her and can’t help but want to help her, only he first needs to get her to open up to him.
When Ross receives a call from Kit’s father-in-law he knows that Kit is in trouble and he may be the only person to help her. But in order to do that he will have to tell her who he really is, and where he comes from so she can see how he can help her. Otherwise Kit will run away trying to keep them safe and to keep her son as the boy he has become once again.
Ross is a great soldier, and the way that he fights for those he loves and what he believes is something that just made me fall a little in love with him myself. I love how he respected Kit’s wishes even if he was not truly happy with them. And Kit is also a great character, I liked that she stayed in her marriage for the love of her son and sacrificed herself in every way possible for his well being, but that as soon as she was able she made sure that she had an escape plan to be able to give her son the true childhood that he deserved.
I have absolutely loved this Daddy Dude Ranch series by Rebecca Winters. The soldiers who have given themselves a new mission, to bring a little happiness to the families of the fallen soldiers, is something that makes you smile and make you aspire to be a better person not only for yourself but also for those around you and to see how you can help others. The romance may be fast since they only have a week to fall in love, but each and every story has had a lot of depth that you don’t feel like it only happened within a week.
If you want a sweet, fun and entertaining read, don’t miss Her Wyoming Hero by Rebecca Winters.
