His Very Convenient Bride by Sophie Pembroke: So when Helena’s sister decides to run off His-Very-Convenient-Bridewith her fiance’s brother right before the wedding, Helena decides the only thing to do is step into her sister’s dress and marry Thea’s fiance. Flynn and Thea weren’t in love, but were planning to marry for the business their fathers run together. Helena has had a crush on Flynn since she was a teenager, but she sees this as an opportunity to save the family from scandal as a way to make up for her past.

Flynn was adopted into the Ashton family and he’s never felt like a true Ashton. He is continually fighting for his place and trying to show his father that he deserves to be the CEO of Morrison-Ashton. By marrying a Morrison daughter, he can secure his role in the company.

Flynn and Helena are opposites in some key ways, which is really fun. Helena appreciates spontaneity, whereas Flynn is a planner and loves his paperwork. Helena’s more lively personality helped to balance the solid, steady, reliable presence of Flynn.

‘Surely that has to be better than us getting…’ He waved a hand between them and she rolled her eyes.

‘Married, Flynn. Go on, you can say it. It’s not actually a dirty word. You were all set to do it with my sister, and I suspect you weren’t any more in love with her than she was with you. As evidenced by the fact you just told her to elope with Zeke.’

‘That was different,’ Flynn argued. ‘Thea and I had a plan. There was…paperwork.’

Flynn is determined to make this marriage work, but he has to convince Helena that she shouldn’t leave him after the wedding. While they have known each other for a long time, they had to get to know each other all over again. They learned that their experiences of not being enough for their families are very similar, which helped to strengthen their connection. Flynn and Helena had good chemistry and amusing interactions.

Just a show. That was the key.

Except it wasn’t.

Yes, the only reason his first kiss with his wife was taking place in front of a captive audience was to prove a point-to show them that Helena wasn’t some sort of consolation prize. But that wasn’t enough. He had to show Helena that too.

And Helena knew the truth.

I loved the premise and how Helena and Flynn came to be married! I was immediately hooked! His Very Convenient Bride is a contemporary marriage of convenience story with family drama and opposites attracting. Sophie Pembroke created interesting characters and backgrounds. A Groom Worth Waiting For is the connected book with Thea and Zeke’s story.
